Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended a large group of mostly Central American migrants marching through a ranch located about 60 miles north of the Texas-Mexico border. The group included an unaccompanied minor.
Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas, who is the special prosecutor overseeing the investigation into the allegations, cited the statutes of limitations for the decision while also noting how she believes the women’s allegations.
2018 will prove to be by far the most expensive midterm on record. CRP estimates the final cost at $5.2 billion, a 35 percent increase over 2014 in nominal dollars. Part of the reason for that is a truly staggering increase in outside spending, which at $1.31 billion is up 61 percent over 2014. The week before the election, this cycle also surpassed 2012’s outside spending ($1.29 billion) and is now the second-most expensive cycle ever — midterm or presidential — in terms of outside spending.
President Trump marked a national observance on Wednesday for the millions victims who died as a result of international communism.
"On the National Day for the Victims of Communism, we honor the memory of the more than 100 million people who have been killed and persecuted by communist totalitarian regimes," the president said in a White House statement. "We also reaffirm our steadfast support for those who strive for peace, prosperity, and freedom around the world."
"There's only three ways a person can become acting attorney general," Napolitano said. "One, if you are the deputy attorney general - Rod Rosenstein - the president signs an executive order and makes you acting."
"Two is if you are already in the Department of Justice and have a job that requires Senate confirmation and you have received confirmation," Napolitano added. "That is not the case with Matt Whitaker because he's the chief of staff. That does not require Senate confirmation."
Whitaker's most recent post was chief of staff to Sessions at the Justice Department.
"Three is a recess appointment, which is not relevant here because the Senate is not in recess," Napolitano continued.
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was at the White House on Thursday to meet with Jared Kushner about prison reform, according to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.
His visit sparked some speculation that he might be there to talk about replacing former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who resigned Wednesday at Trump's request. But there was no sign from the White House that Trump talked to Christie about that possibility, and it wasn't clear if the two men met.
