A new poll by El Universal, a Mexican newspaper, found that a majority of Mexicans have a negative view of the migrant caravan marching through their country.
Thousands of members of the caravan are currently camping out in Tijuana, Mexico as they attempt to cross the southern U.S. border or claim asylum. Mexicans have expressed displeasure that the migrants are settling in their home cities and towns.

Congress just reached an agreement on proposed legislation that could make hemp legal to grow in the United States for the first time in nearly a century. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at ports of entry along the California/Mexico border seized 625 pounds of narcotics valued at more than $2.7 million over the past five days and arrested 39 people for a variety of criminal activity.
From midnight Friday through midnight Tuesday, CBP officers at the six land ports of entry thwarted numerous smuggling attempts involving heroin, cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine. The drugs were strapped to smugglers’ bodies and hidden in various areas of the vehicles such as the gas tank, trunk, seats and quarter panels.

An internal investigation by a Redondo Beach Catholic parish has found that two longtime nuns who worked at the St. James School misappropriated a “substantial” amount of school funds for their personal use over a period of years, according to a letter sent to school families Wednesday.
Msgr. Michael Meyers, the pastor at St. James Catholic Church, said in the letter that the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, the nuns’ order, is cooperating with the parish and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to determine exactly how much money was taken by the school’s former principal, Sister Mary Margaret Kreuper, and former teacher Sister Lana Chang.

Teva Pharmaceuticals has launched a voluntary recall into two drugs used to treat high blood pressure as yet more medications face concerns over a possible cancer risk.
In a statement from Teva posted by the Food and Drug Administration, the recall affects all lots of combination tablets featuring the drugs amlodipine and valsartan and another combo drug featuring amlodipine, valsartan, and hydrochlorothiazide.
The drugs could contain an impurity called N-nitroso-diethylamine (NDEA), which has been classified as a possible human carcinogen, the FDA said.

The crews will dispose of trash that police and organizations collect citywide as well as trash the Downtown Street Teams collect downtown and in the River District, said Jerome Council, a city public works official.
The Downtown Street Teams, composed of volunteers who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, are currently cleaning up outside the city’s homeless shelter on Railroad Drive in North Sacramento, said Emily Halcon, coordinator of the city’s homeless services. Two more teams will launch this winter using state funds received by the city, she said.

On Nov. 24, information sharing between the United States and the Government of Mexico (GoM) led to the rescue of 106 migrants held against their will.
During the U.S.-Mexico Border Security Multi-Agency Law Enforcement training held in McAllen, Texas, on Nov. 15, the Rio Grande Valley Foreign Operations Branch shared information with GoM officials about apprehension trends near a local ranch in Roma, Texas.
As a result of the information gathered, GoM subsequently narrowed down a suspected residence in Miguel Aleman and conducted a welfare check, resulting in the discovery of 106 migrants from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. The Instituto Nacional de Migracion took custody of the migrants for processing.

Ukrainian officials announced earlier on Friday that all Russian men aged between 16 and 60 will be barred from entering Ukraine for the 30-day duration of martial law. The statement is the latest step in the escalation of the long-simmering conflict between Russia and Ukraine which began in 2014 with Russia’s annexation of Crimea.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters that Russia is not planning to impose similar measures on Ukrainians. Zakharova blamed the Ukrainian government for implementing a policy that hurts ordinary people.
