Federal agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement since April have conducted at least three major raids across New Jersey, arresting nearly 190 people suspected of being undocumented immigrants.
That followed a 12-month period during which ICE's Newark, New Jersey, field office increased its arrest rate 42 percent during fiscal year 2017, according to an analysis by the Pew Research Center.
Now, a day after New Jersey's attorney general announced new rules restricting local law enforcement officers' interaction with immigration agents, ICE is threatening even more raids.

The crash happened just after 1:20 p.m., and fire crews arrived at the scene at 1:32. By 2 p.m., the fire — which charred much of the outside of the building — had been extinguished. The building is located near the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.
Gerald Hould, a bystander who witnessed the aftermath of the crash, said he noticed the plane was “in trouble with the engine” as it passed near him.

In a statement released Saturday, consular officials said they “were aware of a security incident that took place at the U.S. Consulate General” on Friday evening.
“The consulate was closed at the time and there were no injuries,” the statement continued. “U.S. and Mexican authorities are investigating. We will provide further information (including about consular operations) as it becomes available.”
While the investigation continues and there have been no culprits yet identified, the attack comes just a week after several videos were posted online showcasing an interrogation of a cartel “sicario”-- otherwise known as a hitman -- allegedly working for the dominant cartel in the area, Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). He claimed he had orders to attack U.S. embassies or consulates from its leader, Rubén Oseguera González, also known as "El Mencho.”

New York is considering a proposal that would require the government to check the social media posts going back three years and the internet searches for the past year of all gun license applicants to look for “any good cause for the denial of a license,” and voters are intrigued by the idea.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 46% of Likely U.S. Voters favor such a law in their state, while 39% are opposed. Sixteen percent (16%) are undecided.

Gov. Rick Scott late Friday suspended embattled Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes even though Snipes had already agreed to step down from her post in early January. Scott replaced Snipes with his former general counsel even though Peter Antonacci has no elections experience.
Snipes responded by rescinding her previous resignation — and will now be "fighting this to the very end," her attorney said during a Saturday news conference.

"Today, DHS submitted a request for assistance to the Department of Defense to extend its support through January 31, 2019," Pentagon spokesman Army Lt. Col. Jamie Davis said in a statement Friday. "This request refines support to ensure it remains aligned with the current threat, the nature of the mission, and CBP operational requirements."
