The Type 072II Yuting-class tank landing ship Haiyangshan has set sail for possible testing in the open ocean. The navy warship is equipped with what appears to be an electromagnetic railgun.
China’s futuristic electromagnetic railgun may already be the most powerful cannon to ever roam the high seas and is ahead of schedule. New photos appear to show the railgun perched on the bow of its test ship at sea.
[...] The June United States intelligence assessment suggests the supergun underwent trials even earlier than the PLA said, with initial tests underway as early as December 2017.

U.S. Army recruiters are finding their jobs harder and harder as a booming economy and healthy job market draw away potential recruits, especially in the blue cities where the Army is shifting its focus.
The Army moved its goal of 80,000 recruits in fiscal year 2018 down to 76,500. But it still fell short with 70,000 recruits, reported Army Times. Army retention, however, remains high at 86 percent.
"I was at this conference and talk. I study superconductors for a living. This is a big deal and the article was not trying to mislead. We're talking either Nobel or Buckley prize if this comes to fruition."
WFLA-TV reports health officials boarded the plane when it landed at Tampa International Airport on Tuesday afternoon and the sick passengers were removed.
Officials say they are being held for observation. The sick passengers were not traveling together.
"During Frontier flight 1397 from Cleveland to Tampa this afternoon, six passengers became ill. The aircraft was met by local emergency medical services upon arrival in Tampa. Those passengers displaying symptoms were evaluated by medical staff before being released. All other passengers were released after a brief holding period. The cause of the illness remains under investigation. Passenger safety is Frontier’s number one priority."
United States Customs and Border Protection revealed Tuesday that they are treating as many as fifty illegal immigrants per day for "serious illnesses" requiring urgent medial care, including pneumonia, influenza, and even tuberculosis.
The Washington Times reports that border patrol authorities are seeing a steep uptick in the number of sick immigrants attempting to cross the border, and in particular an uptick in the number of sick children. "Most of those in need of care are children, and a staggering 28 percent are under age 5," according to the Times.
Following the lead of Chinese smartphone makers like Xiaomi and Oppo, which have dominated mobile sales in India for some time, the content behind the touchscreen glass in India is increasingly now from China, too. That’s according to a report from FactorDaily, which found that 44 of the top 100 Android apps in India were developed by Chinese companies, up from just 18 one year prior. (The focus is on Android because it is the overwhelming choice of operating system among India’s estimated 500 million internet users.)
Between the evening of December 23 and the night of December 26, the Subglacial Antarctic Lakes Scientific Access (SALSA) project was busy drilling a 1,084-meter-deep (3,556-foot) borehole towards Lake Mercer, a mysterious subglacial body of water that's over twice the size of Manhattan.
The researchers have already sent down an instrument to measure the lake’s depth and temperature, but there’s much more to come. The new borehole will give scientists the chance to study the potential microbial life lurking in the depths of Antarctica. The team also hopes to learn whether complex organisms, perhaps animals, live in Lake Mercer. SALSA will send a remotely operated vehicle down through the hole and use it to explore the lake with the help of a camera and a sample-snatching claw.
He then attended a “defensive” or “protective” briefing before he ever sat alongside Vladimir Putin at the Russia Today (RT) dinner, or before he talked with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
[...] Flynn’s attendance at the RT event was disclosed in advance to the intelligence community, he took proactive steps to ensure he could not be compromised by attendees, and he then came back to the United States and reported intelligence designed to benefit America.
Flynn was never charged with any wrongdoing related to the RT event, so the belated revelations about his pre- and post-event conduct won’t have any effect on his sentencing in the court of law. But in the court of public opinion, they should have a real impact.
On that score, the first accounts of the Russia-Flynn story — like many others in the still-unproven collusion narrative — should be amended to reflect that the retired general acted like a patriot, not a traitor, when he visited Moscow for the RT event.
Flynn played it by the book. A patriotic game-theorist.
If you're wondering how that's even possible, you're not crazy: It isn't. The cops made it up.
In short, the post was untrue. Chief Tim Walker has admitted as much to The New Orleans Advocate, explaining that Officer Keith Moody, who wrote it, wanted it to be "attention-getting."
The commission investigating a shooting massacre at a Florida high school unanimously approved its initial findings and recommendations Wednesday, including a controversial proposal that teachers who volunteer and undergo training be allowed to carry guns.
The 15-member Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission's 446-page report details what members believe happened before, during and after the Feb. 14 shooting attack that left 14 students and three staff members dead and 17 wounded.

A “violent mob” of illegal immigrants tried to ring in the new year by rushing the border in California, and Border Patrol agents fired tear gas at them to repel the incursion, Homeland Security officials said Tuesday.
About 150 people were involved in the attempt to climb over and burrow under a section of border fence in San Diego on New Year’s Eve night. After they were blocked, one group grew more combative, firing rocks over the border to try to hit agents.
In a tweet, the president called on Romney to "focus on Border Security and so many other things where he can be helpful," while questioning whether he will be "a Flake," referencing Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), a frequent Trump critic who did not run for reelection last year.
Mitt is a globalist meat puppet. He’s a disgrace, even to his own family. Just the kind of characteristics liberals hold dear. He’s a joke.
