Thief breaks into two State Department buildings, steals phones…
January 14, 2019
The State Department was hit in two separate locations last week by a thief who got away with dozens of cellphones and electronic equipment.
The department acknowledged that one individual is suspected of slipping into two of its buildings — one in Washington and one in Arlington. A suspect was arrested after he allegedly tried to sell the equipment at a restaurant in Virginia, and almost all the stolen devices were retrieved.
The suspect was identified by Arlington police as Joel Enriquez-Bueno, 42, with no known fixed address. He was charged with grand larceny, grand larceny with intent to sell, breaking and entering, and giving a false identity to police.
Something really stinks here. Homeless guy knows how to sneak into 2 State Dept. buildings and knows where to find a bunch of phones & gets away before security catches him? "Almost" all the stolen devices were retrieved? This might be one of the shadiest cover stories of the month. Also this happened this past Friday, on January 11. Somehow everyone missed this.

January 14, 2019
Trump further confirmed in no uncertain terms that his announced "long overdue" troop pullout from Syria has begun, but that it's been initiated while "hitting the little remaining ISIS territorial caliphate hard" and "from many directions".
[...]
Trump followed his tweet threatening to "devastate Turkey economically" if the Kurds are hit, with another repeat promise to "stop the endless wars!" — in what appears a further sign he's currently in a fight with the deep state and hawks within his own administration over Syria policy.
[...]
But given Trump's power to send the Turkish lira tumbling with a mere Tweet - already after it hit new lows last week - the Turks (or at least TRY trader) no doubt believe that Trump is capable of following up on threats.California standoff ends after police use robot to deliver vape pen to suspect…

A $350 toilet powered by worms may be the future of sanitation that Bill Gates has been dreaming about…
January 14, 2019
- Worm toilets require no traditional flushing and aren't hooked up to a sewer system — instead, worms compost human waste.
- More than 4,000 such "Tiger Toilets" have been installed to date across India, in homes of people who were previously defecating in the open.
- The worm toilets smell a lot better than a pit latrine, and don't breed mosquitoes either.
France and Germany ‘plot to merge borders, economies and defence policies in latest step towards EU superstate’…
January 14, 2019
The treaty extension, negotiated over the past year though short on details, stipulates that it will be a priority of German-French diplomacy for Germany to be accepted as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
Under the plans, ministers will also be able to sit in on each other’s Cabinet meetings. There are also aims to promote closer cooperation between national intelligence services and police in fighting terrorism and organized crime, as well as a commitment to moving towards economic convergence.
This looks a lot like what Germany tried to do twice by force, except now, it's turning out to be super-caliphate.

“We just thought, if we’re going to do something relevant in this era where Congress is going to reassert itself, where there are so many questionable activities of this Administration vis-à-vis foreign policy, that it made sense to have this,” Rep. Eliot Engel told the New Yorker magazine.

‘Monster Jam’ REMOVES pics of GUNS from Monster Trucks Because of liberal pressure, …
January 14, 2019
When Monster Jam roars into Raymond James Stadium on Saturday, something will be missing from the enormous trucks — all images of guns.
There are still trucks with menacing names like Grave Digger and Maximum Destruction. But Slinger, formerly Gunslinger, was quietly redesigned in 2017 to turn the gun images on the truck to slingshots.
The gun turret from Soldier Fortune was removed that year. And the Metal Mulisha monster truck was redesigned to remove the image of a gun.

Lady Rothschild, who enjoyed significant and sustained success as an owner and breeder at the highest levels of flat racing, has died. She was 84.

Racing was always a significant influence in Lady Rothschild's life, with her Canadian grandfather, Sir James Dunn, marrying Marcia Christoforides, who later became Lady Beaverbrook. This meant Rothschild was the step-granddaughter of the owner of Bustino and Boldboy.

He said: "We have to solve the issue at a competent judicial forum based on our common international and European law culture," Pavlopoulos said.
Merkel, for her part, said they are aware of the crimes that Nazis had committed in Greece.

January 14, 2019
The quasar identified by Hubble is called J043947.08+163415.7 and is giving off huge amounts of light. It is as bright as 600 trillion Suns and the supermassive black hole at its center is several hundred million times as massive as our Sun. Scientists were surprised by finding such a bright quasar: “That’s something we have been looking for for a long time,” lead author Xiaohui Fan of the University of Arizona said in a statement. “We don’t expect to find many quasars brighter than that in the whole observable Universe!”
Virtual Reality Will Take Big Steps Forward in 2019…
January 14, 2019
...but will anyone care?
High stakes for virtual reality
The stakes for VR in 2019 are high given the place the industry is in today. If adoption rates increase and Quest or Cosmos begin to be more common in homes and businesses, the future is bright for virtual reality as an industry. But if the adoption cycle remains slow, the industry could stagnate. New high-end VR headsets only come out every few years, so this is an important product cycle. Slow adoption would mean slower content development, which could result in a downward cycle for everyone in the industry.
250 more hospitals just joined in on a plan to make their own drugs and the effort could upend the generic pharma business – A group of hospitals have built a nonprofit generic drugmaker…
January 14, 2019
Hospitals have a creative plan to tackle the high price and frequent shortages of generic drugs.
- A group of hospitals have built a nonprofit generic drugmaker called Civica Rx.
- On Monday, another 12 health systems joined the organization.
- The hope is to make generic drugs that are in shortage or have artificially high prices based on what hospitals need.
The pharma giants are going to have a hard time taking down hospitals. In fact, large hospitals are the lifeblood of pharma industry, second only to pain clinics. And, as time goes on, certain drugs will enter the public domain, making them able to be made non-exclusively.
Although this sounds like incredible news, remember, these are the people that charge $50 for a Tylenol. So in other words, it's possible this is money being passed onto a different "give us your money" group.
But according to an anon in the comments section, he says: "Saving have already been passed on, I recently got a generic that is identical to the brand name I was taking before. Old price was $230/mo with insurance new price is $7/mo. KVK Tech is the generic manufacturer."
So let's see how this all ends up.
