Food Assistance Payments Came Early But Have To Last Until March…
January 21, 2019
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for February were issued last week, and local officials are cautioning recipients to budget their use.
What it means is, as of Jan. 16, those who receive SNAP, commonly referred to as food stamps, may have had two months’ worth of food dollars on their account.

A provision in federal law allows for the release of an additional month’s worth of SNAP benefits within 30 days of a partial government shutdown, which started Dec. 21.A.I. Finds Ways to Legally Copy Drugs Pharma Spends Billions Developing…

Called Chematica, the software platform does something called “retrosynthesis,” similar to the kind of reverse engineering that takes place when an engineer dissects an existing product to see how it works. In the case of Chematica, this process is based on a deep knowledge of how chemical interactions take place. It has around 70,000 synthetic chemistry “rules” coded into its system, along with thousands of additional auxiliary rules prescribing when particular reactions occur and with which molecules they’re compatible. An algorithm then inspects the massive number of possible reaction sequences in order to find another way to the same finish line.
But guess what; Merck has bought this company, to protect and (probably) lengthen their patents. This is just wrong. This should have been released as open source / patent free tech. It would be life/world changing technology.
Fox News stops TV recording service that let journalists search for clips…
January 21, 2019
Fox News has barred a TV monitoring service from recording its broadcasts and allowing customers to search for and play back relevant segments.
[...]
TVEyes may not be well known, but it and similar companies perform an important service: allowing journalists to keep tabs on the dozens of hours of content broadcast on news channels each day. That’s particularly important when it comes to Fox News — a channel known for scare tactics, slanted coverage, and being watched by President Donald Trump. We highlighted the last part as it threw off the rest of the article. It's as if all other media outlets aren't known for the exact same things. But they had to throw that in there to appease their SJW demographic. Unreal. SMH.
France fines Google nearly $57 million for first major violation of new European privacy regime…
January 21, 2019
These fines always seem so small VS the daily profit of these mega corps. But the more important part about this verdict is that they actually have to stop with these practices now. And that is going to hurt them a lot.

If you read the article, notice they put Bloomberg at the bottom of the list. Many media outlets will do that in order to give him the aura of an underdog as American's love that status the most.
Bloomberg plans to create his own lane in 2020 with loads of money…
January 21, 2019
‘Bloomberg’s kind of money buys a lot of loyalty — or at least silence. Anyone else would be toast.’
White. Male. Old. A Wall Street billionaire. At first glance, Michael Bloomberg would seem to have zero appeal in a Democratic Party where progressive populism is on the rise and activists and elites say it’s time for a woman or a person of color to win the White House. But unlike any of the other presidential hopefuls, Bloomberg plays a dominant leadership role on two of the top issues on the minds of progressives heading into the 2020 cycle: climate change and gun control.
China is forcing small-town America to stop recycling, by refusing to buy mountains of contaminated waste…
January 21, 2019
Hannibal, Missouri, population 18,000, has stopped accepting recyclable plastics labelled with the numbers 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7, such as yogurt containers and shampoo bottles.
Villages near Erie, Pennsylvania, no longer take glass.
And in Columbia County, New York, nestled in the Hudson Valley, residents soon will have to pay US$50 a year to dump their materials at one of the county’s recycling centres.
China, for decades the world’s largest importer of waste paper, used plastic and scrap metal, last year stopped accepting certain kinds of recyclables and tightened its standards for impurities in scrap bales.

January 21, 2019
Carlos Martin Bringas was found in his car in a park in Torreon on January 18 after gunshots were heard nearby at around noon. He had a gun in his left hand which led investigators to believe he killed himself.
Bringas was from one of the richest families in Mexico which owns half of the Soriana Group, which owns a chain of grocery stores.
It has not yet been suggested why he would have wanted to kill himself and prosecutors have not said whether they suspect foul play or not.

Tesla increases Supercharging prices to the point that gas might be cheaper…
January 21, 2019
How expensive is it to charge at home per mile? The math should be pretty straight forward, take what electricity costs in your area and multiply it by the kWh size of your battery. For instance, if you have a Model S P90 and live in Minnesota, $0.1148 * 90 = $10.33 to charge to full at home.
Source: Solar-Estimate.org
But of course, it all depends on where you live. Different states and regions have different prices per kilowatt.

Beyond BuzzFeed: The 10 Worst, Most Embarrassing U.S. Media Failures on the Trump/Russia Story…
January 21, 2019
As I’ve said many times, the U.S. media has become quite adept at expressing extreme indignation when people criticize them; when politicians conclude that it is advantageous to turn the U.S. media into their main adversary; and when people turn to “fake news” sites.
If, however, they were willing to devote just a small fraction of that energy to examining their own conduct, perhaps they would develop the tools necessary to combat those problems instead of just denouncing their critics and angrily demanding that politicians and news consumers accord them the respect to which they believe they are entitled.
TIME’S UP!! Wikileaks: Hillary Clinton TERRIFIED as Classified intercepted memo EXPOSES Her True Syria Motives…
January 21, 2019
A memo sent to Hillary Clinton that WikiLeaks made public in 2016 has not gotten the attention it deserves. Now is the time.
“Actions have consequences, and whether we’re in Syria or not, the people who want to harm us are there & at war,” Clinton tweeted in response to Trump. “Isolationism is weakness. Empowering ISIS is dangerous. Playing into Russia & Iran’s hands is foolish. This President is putting our national security at grave risk.”
Actions indeed have consequences. The memo shows the kind of advice Clinton was getting as secretary of state to plunge the U.S. deeper into the Syrian war. It takes us back to 2012 and the early phase of the conflict.

January 21, 2019
Two ships have caught fire while moving through the Kerch Strait separating Crimea from mainland Russia, after one of them was apparently rocked by an explosion. At least 11 sailors have died, Russian Maritime Agency said.
One vessel was “allegedly struck by a blast,” which caused the fire that then spilled over to another ship, an official with the Russian Maritime and River Transport Agency said.
