China in Africa and the American response…
February 5, 2019
China’s engagement with Africa appears to be causing headaches in Washington. After two decades of neglect, American interest in the African continent has been renewed by an announcement about the Trump Administration’s new Africa strategy delivered by the National Security Advisor, John Bolton, at the Heritage Foundation.
[...]
While Bolton’s declaration represents a clear expression of Washington’s desire to challenge Chinese moves in Africa, it does not clearly demonstrate how the Trump Administration’s Africa strategy will effectively compete with China’s more established initiatives, making an already difficult task even more challenging. Now THIS is going to get interesting. China has been slowly conquering Africa and swallowing up their resources while also becoming their bank (A thing they learned from the Rothschilds) - while America was too busy fighting oil wars in the middle east. Africa is valuable because of their mining of rare earth minerals - the same minerals large manufacturing nations need to build their products with. Where do you think you get the minerals used to build your tv/mobile screens with? Or even your tech gadgets? Watch Africa.
United Nations claims North Korea trying to keep its nuclear missiles safe from US strikes…
February 5, 2019
Trump is expected to meet the North Korean leader, possibly in Vietnam, at the end of the month to discuss measures that would lead to Pyongyang giving up its nuclear weapons in return for US security guarantees and other assurances.
But the report, seen by Reuters on Monday, suggested the regime was doing everything possible to protect its nuclear and missile programmes.
In the confidential report, recently submitted to UN security council members, sanctions monitors said they had “found evidence of a consistent trend on the part of [North Korea] to disperse its assembly, storage and testing locations”.

WAPO: China exports its high-tech authoritarianism to Venezuela. It must be stopped…
February 5, 2019
Through its Social Credit System, the Chinese Communist Party is apparently determined to build out a... pervasive, highly intrusive AI-enabled surveillance system that tracks you all day every day and that largely determines all of your life chances. Social Credit is creepy enough in its own terms, but the real question is whether it will remain quarantined in China’s huge walled garden, or whether it will spread, becoming a model for repressive regimes worldwide...
According to the report, Venezuela signed a multimillion-dollar contract with ZTE Corp, the Chinese telecom giant, to build a kind of Caribbean version of Social Credit. In Venezuela, the system pivots off of the “carnet de la patria” (fatherland card) — a smart-chip-enabled ID card that Venezuelans increasingly need to access any state service. ZTE provides the servers to store the data and personnel embedded within Venezuela’s state telecom to manage the program.

Neuroscientists Just Found a Way to Image the Brain 1,000 Times Faster Than Ever Before…
February 5, 2019
Last week, 18 institutions teamed up and devised a method to image entire brains 1,000 times faster than anything before. Dubbed by the team as an “Avengers, unite!” moment, they combined strengths to physically blow up brain tissue to over 20 times its usual size, and scanned their inner circuits and molecular constituents—down to the nano-scale level—using a new type of blazingly fast microscopy.
The results are stunning videos of the fly and mouse brains, in which every nook and cranny is illuminated and reconstructed in neon colors.
