Federal Court Rules Firearms Prohibition Against an Individual for a Misdemeanor Conviction Under Vehicle Code is Unconstitutional…
February 6, 2019
tldr from a reddit anon:
This ruling regards the federal prohibition of firearms to people convicted of a crime that can carry a year or more of jail time.
Miller modified a PennDOT form and claimed he was granted permission to tint his car windows. He was caught and sentenced to a year of probation. The crime can carry a 5 year sentence and thus he is prohibited from firearm ownership.
The federal prohibition was ruled unconstitutional when applied to Miller as his crime was not serious (in this case, because it wasn't a felony, wasn't violent, and his sentence was light) and thus the law did not pass even intermediate scrutiny.

February 6, 2019
Jemelle Hill, staff writer at The Atlantic, wrote a mini fan fiction on Twitter during the State of the Union Tuesday night, about the assassination of President Trump with the help of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Hill tweeted that Ocasio-Cortez should yell, “GETCHO HAND OUT MY POCKET,” during the president’s State of the Union speech. The phrase “Get your hand outta my pocket!” was the same one yelled in the Manhattan Audubon Ballroom in 1965 as a distraction before the murder of Malcolm X. As the room tried to quell the commotion, another man rushed forward and shot Malcolm X in the chest.
The same assassination scene was depicted here:

Background Checks Bill Would Turn Many Well-intentioned Americans Into Criminals…
February 6, 2019
Let’s say a stalker threatens a female friend of yours. She asks you if she can borrow your handgun. She is trained and has no criminal record. Should you loan her your gun? Under a bill being heard today before the House Judiciary Committee, loaning her your gun soon could land you in prison. An exception is made only for cases of “imminent” danger — where her stalker is right in front of her at that very moment. Even those annual Boy Scout shooting trips will face legal dangers. Adults who lend troops their guns for a day might soon find themselves in prison.
Those are just a couple of the hidden consequences if Congress passes the bill just submitted by Democrat Congressman Mike Thompson.

The Australian-led study exposes a mass failure of English language medical journals to comply with international ethical standards in place to ensure organ donors provide consent for transplantation.
[...]
A report published in 2016 found a large discrepancy between official transplant figures from the Chinese government and the number of transplants reported by hospitals. While the government says 10,000 transplants occur each year, hospital data shows between 60,000 to 100,000 organs are transplanted each year. The report provides evidence that this gap is being made up by executed prisoners of conscience.Google Paid More In EU Fines Than Taxes Last Year; Warns Data Privacy Changes Could Hurt Business…
