Smuggler uses girls as distraction to help 10 people illegally cross US-Mexico border, officials say

The unidentified smuggler dropped two Salvadoran girls, ages 6 and 9, into concertina wire at an “aging” section of the border barrier, U.S. Customs and Border Protection in San Diego said Tuesday. Video showed the girls being dropped from the wall before the smuggler fled.
Border patrol agents responded to the scene and gave the girls medical attention before taking them to a nearby station. Video surveillance showed the girls were just a decoy to allow 10 people cross into U.S. territory illegally, officials said.
“All 10 individuals got away,” CBP said.

In May 2016, a group of national health experts issued an urgent plea in a private letter to high-level officials in the Obama administration. Thousands of people were dying from overdoses of fentanyl — the deadliest drug to ever hit U.S. streets — and the administration needed to take immediate action. The epidemic had been escalating for three years.
The 11 experts pressed the officials to declare fentanyl a national “public health emergency” that would put a laserlike focus on combating the emerging epidemic and warn the country about the threat, according to a copy of the letter.

Amazon confirmed Tuesday that the books “Healing the Symptoms Known as Autism” and “Fight Autism and Win” are no longer available, but declined to answer specific questions about why it had removed them or whether they were part of a larger cleanup effort, citing a policy of not commenting on individual accounts.
The move by Amazon comes on the heels of a report in Wired published Monday that criticized the retail giant for offering medically dubious books and dangerous methods for reversing autism spectrum disorder.

This morning, just after midnight, McAllen agents working near Granjeno, Texas, responded to a report of a large group of suspected illegal aliens walking towards the river levee. As agents responded, they observed hundreds of people consisting of family units and unaccompanied children cross the river levee. Agents took 289 illegal aliens into custody and transported them to be processed.
In all, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol arrested over 1,000 illegal aliens within the last 24 hours.

She is scheduled to plead guilty to an undisclosed crime or crimes tomorrow in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn.
Regardless of whether her plea deal includes any type of formal agreement that requires her to testify against her co-defendants – Keith Raniere, Clare Bronfman, Allison Mack, Lauren Salzman, and Kathy Russell – she will most definitely be called as a witness by the prosecution.
Having already pled guilty, Nancy will not be able to avoid answering questions from the prosecution. And if she tries to, she may end up like Paul Mannafort – and her plea deal revoked.

National Guard troops helped with the arrest of 23,034 illegal immigrants and the seizure of more than 35,000 pounds of drugs in the roughly six months they were deployed to the border in fiscal 2018, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The more than 23,000 people arrested were "deportable" noncitizens, DHS said. The operation, dubbed "Guardian Support," also led federal law enforcement to more than 6,100 people who were later turned back, the data said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Monday that 28-year-old Kirk Taylor Martin, of Acworth, is facing multiple charges including aggravated sexual battery, aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit sodomy, false imprisonment and obstructing an emergency call.
Officials said he was arrested Friday after the victim was able to contact someone outside her home after being held there by Martin from the afternoon of March 7 until the early hours of March 8.
