April 2, 2019
As he threatens to shut down the southern border, President Donald Trump is considering bringing on a "border" or "immigration czar" to coordinate immigration policy across various federal agencies... Trump is weighing at least two potential candidates for the post: former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, according to the people, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to discuss the conversations publicly. Kobach and Cuccinelli are far-right conservatives with strong views on immigration. Cuccinelli was seen at the White House on Monday...

Armando Vega Gil, 64, was found dead at his home in Mexico City on Monday after posting a public suicide note on Twitter. In the letter, he said he had been falsely and anonymously accused of abusing and harassing a woman when she was 13 years old via the #MeTooMusicosMexicanos hashtag. “Let me make it clear that my death is not a confession of guilt, on the contrary it is a radical declaration of my innocence. I just want to clear the path my son will walk in the future.”
Suspended Broward Sheriff Scott Israel wants his job back. Takes his fight to court…
April 2, 2019
Determined to get his job back, suspended Broward Sheriff Scott Israel went to court Monday to convince a judge that Gov. Ron DeSantis overstepped his authority when he removed Israel from office in January. Monday’s hearing was the first in Israel’s lawsuit against the governor, and it was significant: DeSantis is asking Broward Circuit Judge David Haimes to dismiss Israel’s lawsuit — if the judge agrees, Israel won’t get his job back until and unless voters put him back in office in 2020.
Haimes did not issue a ruling Monday and did not say when he would make a decision.

April 2, 2019
In El Paso, Texas, I was surprised to learn that the resounding second-choice pick of Beto O’Rourke fans is Bernie Sanders. They have very little in common, but that might be irrelevant. Beto fans are light on the substance, heavy on the hometown hero adoration, and obsessed with looks and charisma. This is exactly why Beto might win...

Did Jussie Smollett rat on his celebrity lawyer?…
April 2, 2019
It may be no coincidence that just the day before Smollett had his charges dropped, his own lawyer and lawyer's close friend were implicated in huge federal crimes. Did Smollett learn something while building his relationship with his attorney that helped with his case? Was that something the key to finally bringing charges against Avenatti and potentially Geragos as well?...

April 2, 2019
Disgraced former FBI agent Peter Strzok provided false testimony to Rep. Trey Gowdy regarding his text messages with lover Lisa Page, according to Page’s behind-closed-doors testimony with House Freedom Caucus investigators. Page implored Strzok via text to “Protect the country from that menace.”
Pacific Standard Reports points out the discrepancy between Strzok’s sworn testimony and Page’s interview, in which she sang like a canary, leading President Trump to brand her “Lovely” Lisa Page.
