A Swedish software developer with alleged ties to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was arrested Thursday in connection with a group accused of attempting to blackmail Ecuador's President Lenin Moreno, The Associated Press reported.
Ola Bini was arrested Thursday at Quito's airport as he was preparing to board a flight for Japan, a senior government official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told the news agency. Little is known about Bini but the official said he was living at Quito at the time and allegedly was close to Assange.

The microscopic critters were discovered in the Mariana Trench, the deepest ocean trench in the world. In advance of the hearing, then-deputy chief of Sex Crimes, Jennifer Gaffney, had been given a confidential state assessment that deemed Epstein to be highly dangerous and likely to keep preying on young girls, the DA’s office admitted in its own appellate brief eight months after the hearing.
The brief has been sealed since 2011, but The Post obtained it Thursday after suing to get it unsealed.
It describes a state assessment’s findings that Epstein should be monitored in New York as a level three offender — reserved for the most dangerous.

Felarca lost the case last October and ruled that Felarca could not prevent the emails from being released. Judicial Watch filed a claim for over $300,000 in legal fees related to the case. The judge decreased that amount significantly, in part because he felt the school district was responsible for some of the delays. The judge also said the full amount failed to take into account “the plaintiffs’ limited financial resources.” While the judge helped Felarca out financially, he scolded her lawsuit and said her take on the First Amendment was “obviously baseless.”

In an early Friday statement, university administrator Todd Olson didn’t commit to the fund’s establishment, but said Thursday’s non-binding vote provided “valuable insight into student perspectives.” The Georgetown University Student Association Elections Commission said 2,541 students voted for the “Reconciliation Contribution.” That’s just over 66% of voters.
