Flynn’s ex-lawyer takes witness stand for the prosecution…
July 17, 2019
Prosecutors called ex-Flynn attorney Robert Kelner as a witness Tuesday at the trial of Bijan Rafiekian, 67, an Iranian-American businessman who was Flynn’s key counterpart in a lobbying and consulting firm the retired Army general opened after leaving government, Flynn Intel Group. During about two-and-a-half hours on the witness stand in federal court in Alexandria, Va., Kelner appeared to do some damage to Rafiekian by telling jurors that the Flynn associate never shared key information about links between the lobbying work and Turkish government officials...
Flynn was not charged in the case. As part of a plea deal cut in 2017 with special counsel Robert Mueller’s office, the government agreed not to prosecute Flynn for anything related to the Turkey-focused lobbying.

July 17, 2019
Raids in both countries targeted links between the Sicilian Mafia -- known as the Cosa Nostra -- and US organised crime, said an Italian police statement. Italian police said 18 people had been arrested in Italy and one in the United States. Among those arrested was Thomas Gambino, considered by the FBI to be a key player. Police also cuffed members of the Inzerillo family, said Italian prosecutor Roberto Tartaglia. During their investigation, they said, they secretly filmed Gambino holding a covert meeting with the head of the Inzerillo family on a rubber dinghy off the coast of Palermo last summer... The investigation, dubbed "New Connection" by the Italian police, revealed "the strong bond established between Cosa Nostra in Palermo and US organized crime," it said.

The flamethrower drone will soon be a thing you can buy. In pieces, anyhow…
July 17, 2019
In 2015, a Connecticut teenager raised the question of whether our robots have the right to bear arms when he jury-rigged a working flamethrower — and separately, a semiautomatic pistol — to his drone.
But this Thursday, for better or worse, you’ll be able to easily build a flying flamethrower yourself. You’re looking at a the Throwflame TF-19 Wasp, a functional flamethrower attachment for commercial-grade heavy lift drones that can hit targets up to 25 feet away, with a one-gallon fuel tank that can produce a stream of fire for 100 seconds, according to the company...

The conservative Florida congressman told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Tuesday that he received a threatening voicemail -- but the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California deemed the matter “a non-threat” and would not pursue a case. Carlson noted that the FBI had identified a suspect... Gaetz shared a recording of the threat, in which a male voice can be heard saying, “Gaetz, you pathetic piece of s---. Do you know that I could blow your f---ing head clean off your shoulders from over a mile away. Watch your back, b----. You pathetic little piece of s---. You got your head so far up Trump’s ass, I could still take it off your shoulders. F--- you Gaetz. I’m coming after you, b----.” Late last week, Gaetz said, he was told that the U.S. attorney “made the determination that this was a closed matter, that they would bring no charges, and that we’re just supposed to deal with that.”
Democrat ‘Doomsday Scenario’ as Campaign Funds Evaporate…
July 17, 2019
New financial disclosures show that 11 liberal contenders for the Oval Office are operating their campaigns at a deficit, having spent more money than campaign donations could support. Eight more have less than $1 million on hand. More than five months from 2020, only the front-runners have the financial means to go much further. “This is the doomsday scenario for a lot of campaigns, where they’re grasping for air to keep their campaigns alive and to live another day,” said Washington Democrat strategist Andrew Feldman. “You can’t build an organization. You can’t build an operation that turns enthusiasm into votes without having resources to do it.” “You’re not going to see a lot of people continuing to give to a person with no money left,” he added.

Some members of the United States House are concerned the Pentagon may have unleashed disease-infected ticks that caused the spread of Lyme disease... According to the Congress-focused newspaper, New Jersey Republican Rep. A Bacterial Invasion? East-Coast-ers Face Flesh-Eating Disease Epidemic In 2019…
July 17, 2019
Why are we suddenly seeing so many cases of flesh-eating disease all along the east coast of the United States? But here in 2019 the news is telling us that we are seeing flesh-eating infections “at a rate much higher than in previous years”, and this outbreak really seems to have escalated dramatically over the last couple of months. In fact, I found so many cases as I was doing research for this article that I had to simply stop reading at one point or I would have never gotten this article done in time...
Good article. Most of Florida's instances take place in the Gulf of Mexico. You'll find very few on the Atlantic side, and even then, those cases are in questionable water who nobody should be swimming in anyway. But without digressing, the water temperature of the Gulf is pretty high in summer and there is very little water circulation. It just sits there like bath water. To get a better understanding of where there is stagnant water and where the currents are see this interactive map.
America’s largest drug companies saturated the country with 76 billion oxycodone and hydrocodone pain pills from 2006 through 2012…
July 17, 2019
The information comes from a database maintained by the Drug Enforcement Administration that tracks the path of every single pain pill sold in the United States — from manufacturers and distributors to pharmacies in every town and city... Just six companies distributed 75 percent of the pills during this period: McKesson Corp., Walgreens, Cardinal Health, AmerisourceBergen, CVS and Walmart, according to an analysis of the database by The Washington Post. Three companies manufactured 88 percent of the opioids: SpecGx, a subsidiary of Mallinckrodt; Actavis Pharma; and Par Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Endo Pharmaceuticals. Purdue Pharma, which the plaintiffs allege sparked the epidemic in the 1990s with its introduction of OxyContin, its version of oxycodone, was ranked fourth among manufacturers with about 3 percent of the market.
