July 30, 2019
Apple CEO Tim Cook said on Tuesday that the company wants to manufacture the Mac Pro computer in the U.S., and suggested that Apple is talking to the Trump administration about the topic... Previous versions of the Mac Pro before this latest redesign were assembled in Texas. But most of Apple's products are assembled in China — and the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times both reported that this new Mac Pro redesign would be assembled by Quanta, near Shanghai. Trump later said on Friday in an Oval Office interview that he expected Apple to announce that it was building a plant in Texas.

Gillette parent company Proctor & Gamble writes down value of the razor brand by 8 BILLION dollars. Calling your main customers rapist scum wasn’t a great idea after all…
July 30, 2019
The consumer products giant said Tuesday it took an $8 billion write-down on the carrying value of Gillette’s goodwill in the most recent quarter. P&G pinned the blame on currency devaluations since it bought Gillette for $57 billion back in 2005. The company also cited ongoing tough competition in the razor blade category...
Article says DSC and others have taken market share with cheap razors and slick packaging. No, they did it with quality products, less expensive packaging, reasonable pricing, and not insulting their customers with SJW bs. So many alternatives to their overpriced product.
Gillete joins the same ranks as Dick's Sporting Goods, Nike, Starcucks, any others.

...saying they "did not participate in any wrongdoing in obtaining the materials in the first place" and therefore bore no legal liability for disseminating the information... The suit did not allege that the stolen materials were false or defamatory but rather sought to hold the Trump team and other defendants liable for the theft of the DNC's information under various Virginia and federal statutes, including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, Wiretap Act, Stored Communications Act, Digital Millenium Copyright Act, and laws protecting trade secrets. However, Judge John Koeltl, a Bill Clinton appointee sitting in the Southern District of New York, wrote in his 81-page opinion Tuesday that the DNC's argument was "entirely divorced" from the facts.
ACLU Sues Trump Administration for Continued Child Separations…
July 30, 2019
According to the ACLU, nearly 1,000 children have been taken away from their parents since President Donald Trump ordered family separations stopped in June 2018, followed by a court order to reunite the families. Trump said then that his policy is to "maintain family unity" unless the parent poses a risk to the child. But the group says border patrol agents are snatching migrant children away from their mothers and fathers because of alleged minor crimes such as traffic tickets.
Vindicated: With Hyten effectively cleared of sexual assault allegations, Senate poised to confirm him to joint chiefs…
July 30, 2019
After a bruising week-long confirmation process that took place mainly behind closed doors and under oath, Gen. John Hyten emerged largely unscathed, with his reputation intact, and his nomination to be the nation’s second-highest-ranking military officer appeared headed for Senate approval as early as this week. Hyten had categorically denied the allegation that he sexually assaulted a more junior officer in her hotel room in 2017, when both attended the annual Reagan Security Forum in California, and was cleared by a team of 53 Air Force investigators...
The accuser, Army Col. Kathryn Spletstoser, told the New York Times she felt she had a moral obligation to come forward once she learned Hyten, her former boss, would not be retiring but was instead nominated for a new four-star assignment. At his Tuesday Senate confirmation hearing, it was clear that after listening to both Hyten and Spletstoser behind closed doors over five days and reviewing voluminous evidence produced by an Air Force inspector general investigation, most senators believed Hyten’s insistence that “the allegations are false” and “nothing happened, ever.”

QSince Q keeps bringing up old posts we thought we would also. Here's a report we made last year when Q brought up the Red Cross: Q: RED – The Cross, The Crescent, The CrystalA Filipino Scientist Made Bioplastic Out Of Mango And Seaweed. Denxybel Montinola even made sure the sustainable plastic alternative was water-soluble…
July 30, 2019
In the search for sustainable plastic alternatives, a research intern from the Institute of Biological Chemistry at the Academia Sinica in Taiwan found a new biodegradable material. Denxybel Montinola, who hails from Cebu, Philippines, engineered a bioplastic using bio-polymers known as pectin and carrageenan, which come from mango peels and seaweed respectively.
[...]
Not only is Montinola’s alternative sustainable, it’s also better than the plastics we currently use. For one, it’s completely water-soluble, which means it will completely dissolve in water and won’t degrade into tiny plastic particles. So there’s a decreased likelihood of getting a dash of microplastics in your next meal.
Second, it’s robust enough to mimic the motions of our body...It will be interesting to see if this water soluble bag would dissolve if things like frozen or refrigerated foods were placed in them on a hot day. During hot days, bags can drip with condensation just from carrying them from the cash register to the car. That would cause them to dissolve. They don't provide an answer to that, but we'll see what happens as time goes on.

July 30, 2019
Lawyers for President Donald Trump, House Democrats and New York state told a federal judge today that they have failed to resolve a dispute over the president’s state tax returns. "Notwithstanding their best efforts, the parties are unable to reach agreement,” the three sides said in a joint court filing.
They had been ordered by District Judge Carl Nichols on Monday to figure out among themselves how to proceed in the case, in which Trump is demanding a temporary restraining order to prevent Democrats from taking advantage of a newly passed New York law designed to give them access to the president’s state tax filings.

“California Should Be Embarrassed” – State Passes Law Banning Trump From Ballot Unless Tax Returns Released…
July 30, 2019
Under SB 27, called the "Presidential Tax Transparency and Accountability Act," any candidate running for president or governor in California must file copies of their tax returns from the previous five years to the California secretary of State, or their names will be stricken from the ballot, the Hill reports.
In a statement, Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh called the move "unconstitutional."
"There are very good reasons why the very liberal Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed this bill two years ago - it's unconstitutional and it opens up the possibility for states to load up more requirements on candidates in future elections. What's next, five years of health records?" he said...
Body of notorious gangster John Dillinger to be exhumed 85 years after FBI agents killed him…
July 30, 2019
The Indiana State Department of Health approved a permit July 3 sought by Dillinger's nephew, Michael C. Thompson, to have the body exhumed from Crown Hill Cemetery and reinterred there. The permit doesn't give a reason for the request. Thompson couldn't immediately be reached for comment. The Indianapolis-born Dillinger was one of America's most notorious criminals. He and his gang pulled off a bloody string of bank robberies across the Midwest in the 1930s. The FBI says that Dillinger's gang killed 10 people, but Dillinger was never convicted of murder.

Neuroscientists decode brain speech signals into written text…
July 30, 2019
The breakthrough is the first to demonstrate how the intention to say specific words can be extracted from brain activity and converted into text rapidly enough to keep pace with natural conversation.
In its current form, the brain-reading software works only for certain sentences it has been trained on, but scientists believe it is a stepping stone towards a more powerful system that can decode in real time the words a person intends to say.
[...]
The work, funded by Facebook, was possible thanks to three epilepsy patients who were about to have neurosurgery for their condition. Before their operations went ahead, all three had a small patch of tiny electrodes placed directly on the brain for at least a week to map the origins of their seizures.During their stay in hospital, the patients, all of whom could speak normally, agreed to take part in Chang’s research...
