Dark Web drug kingpin charged, forfeits $4 million in Bitcoin…
July 30, 2019
Last week, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) said that Richard Castro, also known as "Chemsusa," "Chems_usa," and "Jagger109," among other aliases, used the Dark Web -- only accessible via Tor -- between 2015 and 2019 to sell controlled, restricted drugs. The 36-year-old, a resident of Florida, traded synthetic opioids, specifically carfentanil, fentanyl, and phenyl fentanyl, all of which are powerful tranquilizers and painkillers.

Castro decided to move his trade away from the Dark Web last year and told clients that purchases could be made via encrypted email -- but a fee up-front was required to connect. An undercover officer paid the fee and placed a number of orders. The co-conspirator, Luis Fernandez, then shipped the drugs to the police officer during the sting, leading to Castro's arrest.
Castro's clients paid in Bitcoin (BTC) and these proceeds were stashed in seven cryptocurrency wallets. The dealer also laundered his funds through the purchase of valuable assets and a huge amount of Zimbabwe banknotes. Prosecutors say "approximately 100 quadrillion notes" were purchased through the drug sales...

Trump to be part of historical celebration at Jamestown Virginia…
July 30, 2019
African-American state legislators in Virginia are planning to skip events commemorating 400 years of representative democracy in Jamestown on Tuesday because of the presence of President Trump, who is again taking criticism for his attacks on minority lawmakers. The Virginia Legislative Black Caucus (VLBC) announced the boycott on Monday, saying in a statement that the president's participation would tarnish the programs meant to celebrate the nation's origins.

July 30, 2019
The videos that emerged from an Upper East Side event in October showed a disturbing scene: about a dozen men connected to a far-right group called the Proud Boys surrounding and striking a smaller group of protesters, believed to be self-described anti-fascists. Ten members and associates of the Proud Boys, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has called a “hate group,” were arrested as a result of the altercation. And this week, two are going to trial in what appears to be the first time members of the group, which have clashed with left-wing opponents in other parts of the country, will appear before a jury to face charges stemming from an attack.
Jurors, however, are unlikely to hear from any of those who were beaten. The four victims have not cooperated with the authorities, who do not even know their names. They are identified in an indictment only as Shaved Head, Ponytail, Khaki and Spiky Belt.

Monday’s decision, setting up arguments over how much the singer and other defendants will owe, was returned by a nine-member federal jury in a Los Angeles courtroom. It came five years after Marcus Gray and two co-authors first sued alleging “Dark Horse” stole from “Joyful Noise,” a song Gray released under the stage name Flame. The case now goes to a penalty phase, where the jury will decide how much the plaintiffs are owed for copyright infringement.

Senate Investigation Determines U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee ‘Failed to Protect Its Athletes From Sexual Abuse’ …
July 30, 2019
The investigation report, released Tuesday, found that, “Repeatedly, institutions failed to act aggressively to report wrongdoing to proper law enforcement agencies. Repeatedly, men and women entrusted with positions of power prioritized their own reputation or the reputation of an NGB over the health and safety of the athletes. Repeatedly, USOC, [USA Gymnastics] and other [National Governing Bodies (NGBs)] took actions to conceal their negligence and failed to enact serious reforms, even after they were faced with the courageous accounts of survivors.”
...Sen. Jerry Moran and ranking member Sen. Richard Blumenthal, said Tuesday the culmination of their 18-month investigation led to a bipartisan bill that would grant Congress more authority to take action against the USOPC and the NGBs and hold them accountable for protecting the safety of athletes.

Track using an interactive Air/Wind Map...

The storm is not expected to make landfall but parts of Hawaii could see increased wind gusts and rain as Erick slides just south of the Big Island Thursday. Hurricane Erick could whip sea waters up to anywhere between 7 and 16 feet by Thursday night, according to a marine forecast from the National Weather Service released Monday. High winds are a big part of the storm, with expected sustained gusts to reach 110 mph... Tropical Storm Flossie is not far behind Erick, building strength further east before it's expected to follow a similar track south of Hawaii. As both storms strengthen, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says it will monitor them via radar.
