August 2, 2019
Lawyers for eight Covington Catholic students (John Does 1-8) filed a defamation lawsuit on Thursday in Kentucky’s Kenton County Circuit Court against 12 individuals — lawmakers, journalists/media figures and social media personalities included. Attorneys Robert Barnes and Kevin Murphy began the suit by going back to January 18, 2019, when, they say, “A field trip to our nation’s capital for a group of minors from Covington, Kentucky turned into a social media nightmare that changed their futures forever.”
The defendants have been named as follows: 2020 presidential hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Rep. Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico), CNN’s Ana Navarro, Maggie Haberman of the New York Times, comedian Kathy Griffin, ABC News political analyst Matthew Dowd, Reza Aslan (formerly of CNN), Kentucky entrepreneur Adam Edelen, Princeton University History Professor Kevin M. Kruse, activist and journalist Shaun King, Mother Jones editor-in-chief Clara Jeffery and Rewire.News editor-in-chief Jodi Jacobson.
Over 900 NYC classrooms serving the city’s youngest children have deteriorating lead paint, new data show
August 2, 2019
New York City elementary school classrooms have tested positive for lead after inspections revealed the presence of peeling, chipped, or otherwise deteriorating lead paint, according to new data released Wednesday night by the education department.
The troubling results mark the first time the department has ever released statistics on lead paint in classrooms and were discovered during inspections of 5,408 classrooms in aging buildings in the wake of a WNYC investigation that found evidence of dangerous lead levels in four schools. The city pledged to make the classrooms safe before the school year begins this September and announced several changes to improve testing.
Graphene discovery could make room-temperature superconductors possible…
August 2, 2019
Graphene is a strong, durable and highly conductive material composed of 2D sheets of carbon atoms. In each graphene sheet, the carbon atoms form a hexagonal lattice, or honeycomb-like, pattern. Moiré patterns are the interference patterns produced when two layers with mesh-like patterns -- a combination of opaque and transparent elements -- are overlaid, with one layer slightly turned or twisted. When researchers made a moiré pattern with graphene sheets, the electrons organized themselves into rows. Scientists suggest the graphene discovery could pave the way for superconductors and other quantum materials.
Superconductors allow electrons to flow without any resistance. But most materials exhibit superconductive qualities at only extremely cold temperatures. If scientists can find a way to build superconductors that work at room temperature, they could dramatically boost the speed and efficiency of modern electronics.
Federal judge strikes down Trump asylum ban…
August 2, 2019
A federal judge in Washington, D.C. ruled Friday against the Trump administration's asylum ban, finding that it violates the Administrative Procedures Act (APA), which oversees the ways federal rules are established. Judge Randolph Moss [an Obama appointee] vacated the government's policy barring migrants from claiming asylum if they did not enter the country through designated ports of entry.

Apple suspends program that let its employees listen to your Siri recordings…
August 2, 2019
Under the program, if you said, "Hey Siri, what's the weather today?" someone at Apple could listen to a recording of that question. Apple says it doesn't listen to all conversations, just a small fraction. The company also says the recordings are anonymous. Apple calls the practice "grading." Google and Amazon do the same thing with their voice assistants, and all three companies say it's to improve speech recognition... Apple says Siri grading is anonymous, and the data sent back to Apple is encrypted and randomized, which means it would be hard to identify a person unless specific things were mentioned in a recording, like an address or a name...
"User voice recordings are saved for a six-month period so that the recognition system can utilize them to better understand the user's voice," according to an Apple white paper. "After six months, another copy is saved, without its identifier, for use by Apple in improving and developing Siri for up to two years"... Apple does not let you review the questions you've asked Siri and has not yet rolled out a feature that lets you opt out of the possibility that your voice recordings will reviewed by employees. It says the latter is coming.
Soros launches super PAC for 2020…
August 2, 2019
Soros has so far put $5.1 million into the PAC, according to paperwork filed with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday. His $5.1 million contribution was the single biggest check any megadonor has cut so far during the 2020 election cycle. Soros' move to open the new PAC hints that the billionaire financier may be poised to spend heavily in the 2020 elections. The $5.1 million that Soros put in the PAC more than doubles the $2.1 million he had donated to political causes at this point in the 2016 elections.

R. Kelly pleads not guilty to sex-crime charges, denied bail after lawyer lost track of him…
August 2, 2019
R. Kelly pleaded not guilty Friday to charges he sexually exploited young women and girls who attended his concerts, appearing in a federal courtroom in Brooklyn packed with his supporters. For a second time, he was denied bail, according to the Associated Press... The hearing was briefly delayed Friday after his lawyer in the New York case, Douglas Anton, said he was unable to meet with him after he arrived from Chicago on Thursday. Anton complained in a letter to a federal magistrate late Thursday that he couldn't find him. Anton said federal Bureau of Prison officials, who flew Kelly into a New Jersey airport on Thursday afternoon, were unhelpful in explaining where he was so that he could meet with his client before the hearing, according to the New York Post and NBC News.
Watch: Huun‐Huur‐Tu
August 2, 2019
Huun-Huur-Tu are a music group from Tuva, a republic of Russia situated on the Mongolia–Russia border.
The most distinctive characteristic of Huun-Huur-Tu's music is throat singing, in which the singers sing both the note (drone) and the drone's overtone(s), thus producing two or three notes simultaneously. The overtone may sound like a flute, whistle or bird, but is solely a product of the human voice.
NASA gives SpaceX a challenge with the moon as a prize – If SpaceX is able to land a Starship on the lunar surface, the space agency will partner with the company to conduct voyages to the moon on the rocket ship…
August 2, 2019
SpaceX is developing a massive rocket it calls the Starship. Propelled into space by a first stage dubbed the Super Heavy, it promises to change space travel as profoundly as the ocean-going caravel did sea travel. Starship, Musk has boasted, will carry the first colonists to Mars. He has also suggested that the new rocket could land on the moon in two years. Musk has contracted with a wealthy, Japanese businessman to take a crew of artists and writers in a free return voyage around the moon.
The rocket ship would be totally reusable. The Super Heavy first stage would lift the Starship into orbit and then return to its launch site and land, much like the first stage of the Falcon 9 does on a regular basis. The Starship, with refueling, could land on the moon or Mars, taking with it 100 metric tons of passengers, cargo, or a combination of both. The Starship would refuel using local materials mined from either world and then return to Earth. Musk’s proposed lunar surface mission would likely take cargo useful to future moon explorers and an eventual lunar base.
...Jeff DeWit, NASA’s chief financial officer, threw down the gauntlet to SpaceX. If SpaceX is able to land a Starship on the lunar surface, the space agency will partner with the company to conduct voyages to the moon on the rocket ship. Of course, DeWit hastened to add that he thinks that Musk’s chances of pulling off a lunar landing are “slim.”

Reddit’s Pro-Trump Community ‘The Donald’ Claims Site Ignores Violent Left-Wing Threats…
August 2, 2019
This came after Reddit’s administrators decided to place the site’s largest hub of Trump supporters under “quarantine” on the basis of a single threat of violence, which was quickly removed by moderators of the pro-Trump community. To expose Reddit’s double standards, Trump supporters on Reddit have compiled a mammoth list of threats of violence on left-wing Reddit communities, which appeared without any punishment from Reddit’s administrators.
The posts have been archived and compiled in a document, with over 100 examples from various left-wing Reddit communities including: r/Politics, r/LateStageCapitalism, r/ChapoTrapHouse, the anti-cop subreddit r/Bad_Cop_No_Donut, r/FuckTheAltRight, and r/Socialism. Despite the numerous documented and archived threats of violence, none of these communities have yet been quarantined by Reddit’s administrators.
Beware, the Midwest is under surveillance by giant military balloons…
August 2, 2019
According to documents obtained by The Guardian, the U.S. military is currently in the process of testing a large-scale surveillance system made up of floating radar designed to monitor everything from individual cars to entire cities.
"Conduct high altitude MESH networking tests over South Dakota to provide a persistent surveillance system to locate and deter narcotic trafficking and homeland security threats," reads an FCC document authorizing elements of the test.
The test, which the Guardian reports began in July and runs through September, involves high-altitude balloons floating at heights of up to 65,000 feet. The devices are equipped with a range of sensors, and call to mind the Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Defense Elevated Netted Sensor System (JLENS) pictured above...
Ocasio-Cortez Chief Of Staff And Comms Director Abruptly Quit…
August 2, 2019
Two weeks after former Chicago Mayor and Obama White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her "snot-nosed punk" chief-of-staff Saikat Chakrabarti are destroying the Democratic party, Chakrabarti and AOC's communications director Corbin Trent have abruptly resigned from the Congresswoman's office, according to The Intercept.
"Saikat has decided to leave the office of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to work with New Consensus to further develop plans for a Green New Deal," according to Trent, who added "We are extraordinarily grateful for his service to advance a bold agenda and improve the lives of the people in NY-14. From his co-founding of Justice Democrats to his work on the Ocasio-Cortez campaign and in the official office, Saikat’s goal has always been to do whatever he can to help the larger progressive movement, and we look forward to continuing working with him to do just that"
They might distancing themselves from directly working for AOC and going to work with New Consensus, but this organization is still part of the Neo-Progressive Machine that is funded by George Soros, and staffed with Obama stooges.
Trump Administration Delays Puerto Rico’s Disaster Funding until the island territory resolves a leadership crisis and a federal monitor can be installed to oversee distribution of the funds…
August 2, 2019
Puerto Rico was gripped with uncertainty Friday afternoon about who would succeed Gov. Ricardo Rosselló just hours before his planned resignation at 5 p.m. His appointed replacement, Pedro Pierluisi, hasn’t been confirmed by lawmakers to the secretary of state position, which would put him next in the line of succession. Party officials haven’t coalesced around Mr. Pierluisi or any other successor in days of backroom negotiations, and it isn’t clear he can assume the governorship without a confirmation vote in his favor. The political tumult is affecting Puerto Rico’s access to the federal dollars it needs to rebuild the damage from Hurricane Maria and extricate itself from a court-supervised bankruptcy. U.S. authorities have tightened their grip on Medicaid funding and Federal Emergency Management Agency dollars, pressuring the next governor to repair Puerto Rico’s standing in Washington.
Roger Stone wins access to redacted parts of Mueller report…
August 2, 2019
Although Berman tossed aside Stone’s requests to have the case thrown out, she did rule that Stone should be allowed to look at most of the parts of Mueller’s report currently blacked out due to “harm to ongoing matter” where he’s named or referenced, including portions of a couple pages from Mueller’s executive summary in the sections on Wikileaks and Trump associates lying to investigators.
The judge also said that Stone should get access to unredacted selected parts of another fifteen or so pages covering topics like contacts with Wikileaks and the GRU’s Guccifer 2.0 and DC Leaks, the dissemination of Wikileaks emails, communications and reactions of the Trump campaign related to these topics, and a number of names from the report’s appendix. The judge made it clear that Stone “shall not distribute this information… to anyone outside the defense team or use it for any purpose outside of Mr. Stone’s defense in this matter.”
