Federal court reinstates nationwide injunction on Trump administration’s asylum ban…
September 9, 2019
On Monday, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California ruled to reinstate a nationwide injunction on a Trump administration policy that would have blocked most asylum applications for migrants transiting through other countries on their way to the U.S.-Mexico border. "The question now before the court is whether those harms can be addressed by any relief short of a nationwide injunction. The answer is that they cannot," wrote District Judge Jon Tigar in his order in East Bay v. Barr granting a nationwide injunction on the policy.
District Judge Jon Tigar was appointed by Barack Obama.
Some Bahamas evacuees were told to get off a ferry headed to the US. CBP blames the ferry operator….
September 9, 2019
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials in Florida blamed the ferry company for ordering certain evacuees off the boat. A CBP official said they would have processed those evacuees in Florida, just like they did with 1,500 Dorian survivors from a cruise ship that arrived Saturday. Many Bahamians have expressed frustration about the government's slow response here. That's where local agencies, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection, have stepped in to help. On Sunday, correspondent Errol Barnett joined 30 firefighters from the city of Miami and Miami-Dade County as they searched for victims on Grand Bahama Island, and delivered aid to the stranded.
North Korea says it’s willing to resume nuclear talks with U.S. in late September…
September 9, 2019
Choe Son-hui, the country's foreign vice minister, said North Korea is "willing to comprehensively talk about all the issues we have discussed until now with the United States at an agreed time and place in late September." The news, carried by the North's official Korean Central News Agency, or KCNA, was also reported by South Korea's Yonhap News Agency. The KCNA statement may have been a response to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo saying Sunday the U.S. "was hopeful that in the coming days or perhaps weeks we'll be back at the negotiating table with them" to discuss denuclearization.

Messages from other worlds? Mysterious radio signal detected by high-tech Chinese telescope…
September 9, 2019
Chinese astronomers remain puzzled over a strange signal that was picked up by one of the world’s most powerful radio telescopes. The rare phenomenon cannot be explained and scientists say they don’t want to jump to conclusions. China’s Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST) has detected a repeating fast radio burst (FRB) – unexplained radio signals coming from outer space – for the first time last week, according to reports...
Known as FRB121102, the radio signal was first discovered in 2012 and later repeated in 2015. The signal came from a dwarf galaxy located three billion light years from Earth. Between August 30 and September 3, FAST recorded dozens of pulses from the FRB. While undoubtedly exciting, not enough is known about the enigmatic signal to draw any conclusions about what could have created it...

StemExpress CEO admits selling beating baby hearts, intact baby heads in Daleiden hearing…
September 9, 2019
She also admitted at the preliminary hearing of David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress that the baby’s head could be procured attached to the baby’s body or “could be torn away.” “That is an especially gruesome admission, but it begs the question: how did they get these fully intact human children?” says Peter Breen of the Thomas More Society, which is representing Daleiden at the hearing. “If you have a fetus with an intact head and an intact body, and intact extremities, that is something that would indicate that child was born alive, and then had their organs cut out of them, or that that child was the victim of an illegal partial-birth abortion,” he told LifeSiteNews.
The Trump administration on Monday credited Mexico and Central American countries with helping to cut U.S. border arrests by nearly 60% …
September 9, 2019
With President Donald Trump's anti [illegal] immigration policy shaping up as an issue in his 2020 re-election campaign, Mark Morgan, the acting commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said that 64,000 people were detained or turned back at the southwest border in August. That was down 22% from July and 56% from a high mark in May. Even so, the total was the highest for any month of August in more than a decade, as Central American migrants have headed north in record numbers, many seeking asylum from impoverished countries with some of the highest murder rates in the world.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation Takes The NSA To Court Over Mass Surveillance Programs…
September 9, 2019
EFF continues our fight to have the U.S. courts protect you from mass government surveillance. Today in our landmark Jewel v. NSA case, we filed our opening brief in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, asserting that the courts don’t have to turn a blind eye to the government’s actions. Instead, the court must ensure justice for the millions of innocent Americans who have had their communications subjected to the NSA’s mass spying programs since 2001. Just this spring the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in a case called Fazaga v. FBI that the state secrets privilege does not apply to cases challenging domestic electronic surveillance for national security. Instead such cases must go forward to the merits of whether the spying is illegal. Today we asked the appeals court to apply that same reasoning to Jewel v. NSA and reverse a judge’s order of dismissal so our clients, and the American people, can finally have their day in court...

50 states and U.S. territories open antitrust investigation of Google…
September 9, 2019
Appearing on the steps of the Supreme Court, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said Google “dominates all aspects of advertising on the internet and searching on the internet,” though he said it is an investigation for now and not a lawsuit... Both the Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission also are scrutinizing Big Tech, and DOJ officials issued Google their first legal demand for records at the end of August, according to a securities filing made by Google late Friday.
For Google, the state and federal probes come more than six years after the FTC wrapped up an antitrust investigation into search and advertising and opted against major penalties against the company, including breaking it up. In the meantime, Google has faced withering scrutiny around the world, particularly in Europe, where regulators have issued the company $9 billion in competition-related fines over the past three years.
US set to open nearly 200 natural gas plants…
September 9, 2019
USA TODAY compiled its own list of 177 planned and proposed natural gas plants through August, using data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, which tracks power plants that have been officially announced, and the Sierra Club, which tracks proposed plants. Of those, 152 have a scheduled opening date of between 2019 and 2033, though only 130 have specific locations chosen. An additional 25 are part of companies’ long-term planning processes and don’t have estimated opening dates yet. The plants are a mix of large-scale installations meant to provide lots of electricity much of the day and smaller plants used for short periods when demand for energy is particularly high.

Democrats to question Corey Lewandowski as they investigate possible obstruction by Trump…
September 9, 2019
Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), who subpoenaed Lewandowski to testify by Sept. 17, announced on Monday that he would appear on that date. Nadler has also subpoenaed former White House officials Rob Porter and Rick Dearborn to testify with Lewandowski at a joint hearing, noting that all three are tied to a key episode of possible obstruction by Trump described in former special counsel Robert Mueller’s report. But it is unclear if Porter and Dearborn will appear, since the White House has successfully blocked both former and current officials from testifying publicly up until this point.

professor manipulated 1,000 youths into transgender identities…
September 9, 2019
Johanna Olson-Kennedy has advocated “gender affirming treatment” for significant numbers of children who claim transgender identities, comparing them to diabetic patients who need insulin. She has also advised that the minimum age for cross-sex hormones treatment can be as young as 8-years-old.
Some of Olson-Kennedy’s critics point to a seven minute recording from 2017 in which the professor relates a story about dealing with a purported transgender student. At one point during the recording, Olson-Kennedy is heard relaying a story about a young patient who was struggling with gender confusion: I said, “Do you ever eat pop tarts?” And the kid was like, oh, of course. And I said, “well you know how they come in that foil packet?” Yes. “Well, what if there was a strawberry pop tart in a foil packet, in a box that said ‘Cinnamon Pop Tarts.’? Is it a strawberry pop tart, or a cinnamon pop tart?”. The kid’s like, “Duh! A strawberry pop tart.” And I was like, “so…” And the kid turned to the mom and said, “I think I’m a boy and the girl’s covering me up.”
