Face masks to decoy t-shirts: The rise of anti-surveillance fashion
September 26, 2019
Altering people's looks to cheat cameras has become increasingly popular with artists and designers in recent years, as the use of facial recognition has grown more pervasive, raising fears over privacy, according to fashion experts. From sunglasses to face masks, numerous wearable devices promising a veil of anonymity are making their way into the mainstream... "If someone steals your credit card, you can cancel it and get a new one ... (but) most of us are not going to do plastic surgery to rearrange our identity"...
Tea bags release millions of microscopic plastic particles into your brew, study finds…
September 26, 2019
...while you might assume that your tea bags are made simply from tea and paper, in actual fact an estimated 96 per cent contain polypropylene – a substance used to seal them and ensure they hold their shape... But, as others continue to work on finding a solution, this still means that many of our favourite brands of tea bags still contain plastic.
[...]
Reporting in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, researchers from McGill University wondered whether plastic teabags could be releasing micro and nanoplastics into the beverage during brewing. Using electron microscopy, the team found that a single plastic teabag at brewing temperature released about 11.6bn microplastic and 3.1bn nanoplastic particles into the water. The researchers state that these levels are thousands of times higher than those reported previously in other foods. ...Solomon: These once-secret memos cast doubt on Joe Biden’s Ukraine story…

Hundreds of pages of never-released memos and documents — many from inside the American team helping Burisma to stave off its legal troubles — conflict with Biden’s narrative... The memos raise troubling questions:
- If the Ukraine prosecutor’s firing involved only his alleged corruption and ineptitude, why did Burisma's American legal team refer to those allegations as “false information?"
- If the firing had nothing to do with the Burisma case, as Biden has adamantly claimed, why would Burisma’s American lawyers contact the replacement prosecutor within hours of the termination and urgently seek a meeting in Ukraine to discuss the case?
Ukrainian prosecutors say they have tried to get this information to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) since the summer of 2018, fearing it might be evidence of possible violations of U.S. ethics laws. First, they hired a former federal prosecutor to bring the information to the U.S. attorney in New York, who, they say, showed no interest. Then, the Ukrainians reached out to President Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.

A New Joystick For the Brain-Controlled Vehicles Of the Future…
September 26, 2019
A group of scientists from several universities has created an unobtrusive brain-computer interface strip that could revolutionize the way humans convert their thoughts into a machine-readable format. A narrow strip affixes to the upper neck, performing the data collection of a traditional EEG cap. The signals are then interpreted by software —aided by machine learning— to produce data that could be used to steer vehicles or operate other computers. The entire system is called SKINTRONICS.
[...]
“We demonstrated that this portable, flexible wearable system can control an electric wheelchair, mini-car, and a software-presentation” Woon-Hong Yeo, a researcher of the Georgia Institute of Technology, told Defense One over email. Yeo and his team designed the strip for people who have lost mobility, but its advantages over the EEG cap promise to give it much wider applicability. “Yes, obviously this system can be used for controlling other devices including military equipment,” he said.A second arrest has been made in the U.S. DEA’s investigation into Mac Miller’s drug death…

According to the Blast, the bust was related to the death of the rapper (real name: Malcolm McCormick) but the exact connection has not been revealed. According to the website — as well as a report from the Arizona Republic — 36-year-old Reavis’s Lake Havasu City home was raided, and during the search, "a physician’s prescription pad, prescription-only pills, a usable amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located." Additionally, the search turned up various firearms, a personally manufactured firearm suppressor and large amounts of ammunition, all of which were confiscated.

Researchers Say Milk Is Better Than Water For Hydration…
September 26, 2019
The reason has to do with how our bodies respond to beverages, according to Ronald Maughan, a professor at St. Andrews' School of Medicine and the study's author. One factor is the volume of a given drink: The more you drink, the faster the drink empties from your stomach and gets absorbed into the bloodstream, where it can dilute the body's fluids and hydrate you. The other factor affecting how well a beverage hydrates relates to a drink's nutrient composition. For example, milk was found to be even more hydrating than plain water because it contains the sugar lactose, some protein and some fat, all of which help to slow the emptying of fluid from the stomach and keep hydration happening over a longer period of time. Milk also has sodium, which acts like a sponge and holds onto water in the body and results in less urine produced.
If you want an extra boost of nutrients to go along with the hydration, get to know your local farmer and get some A2/A2 grass-fed raw milk.

The National Weather Service's Prediction Center said an upper low-pressure system dropping into the Pacific Northwest late Friday is forecast to bring what's expected to become a "significant and possibly historic" early-season snowstorm across portions of the northern Rockies.

State Dept announces cap on refugees for 2020 will be 18k, down from historic low of 30k…
September 26, 2019
In a move immediately decried by immigrant advocates as an affront to the nation’s humanitarian commitments, the administration said it had to shift focus to processing a backlog of hundreds of thousands of asylum claims, most of which are filed by migrants from Central America crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. “The current burdens on the U.S. immigration system must be alleviated before it is again possible to resettle large number of refugees,” the State Department said in a statement.
After Romney Trash-Talks Trump-Ukraine Call, Former Adviser Exposed As Burisma Board Member…
September 26, 2019
Mitt Romney’s national security advisor in his 2012 campaign -- a career CIA spook who rose to its top levels -- sits on the board of directors of Burisma, the Ukrainian gas company that formerly paid Hunter Biden $50k a month despite his complete lack of credentials or qualifications.
And it also an odd coincidence that Mitt has as CNN puts it “been a lone Republican voice expressing concern about President Donald Trump's July phone call with Volodymyr Zelensky in which Trump asked Ukraine's President to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his family.”
Still more oddly coincidental is the background of Mitt’s adviser deep in the CIA, part of the intelligence community that has “six ways from Sunday” in foiling a mere president who might oppose them, according to Chuck Schumer...

Anti-Defamation League labels ‘OK’ hand gesture as racist…
September 26, 2019
The Anti-Defamation League said the "OK" sign "is an obvious and ancient gesture that has arisen in many cultures over the years with different meanings" but has since fallen to a hoax made up by users from 4chan where they promoted it as a symbol of white supremacy. "In the case of the 'okay; gesture, the hoax was so successful the symbol became a popular trolling tactic on the part of right-leaning individuals, who would often post photos to social media of themselves posing while making the 'okay' gesture," the Anti-Defamation League continued. "Ironically, some white supremacists themselves soon also participated in such trolling tactics, lending an actual credence to those who labeled the trolling gesture as racist in nature"...
