October 1, 2019
"Democrats wanted the Ukraine to work with Mueller and if they didn't they would cut off their aid. "If that's not a double standard, I don't know what would be."...

Russia has previously accused Musk's SpaceX of squeezing it out of the carrier rockets market with the company's relatively low-cost Falcon 9 rockets. Last year, Russia’s state-owned space corporation Roscosmos brushed off Musk’s successful launch of his Falcon Heavy reusable rocket toward Mars as “a nice trick.” Construction of the $9.8-billion Argo spaceship is expected to kick off after Roscosmos signs a cooperation agreement with the MTKS private researcher, according to the minutes of an August Roscosmos meeting obtained by RBC...

Study lead Andrew Jones, an assistant professor at the Ohio-based university, wanted a solution that maintains biological integrity and reduces production costs. The answer, he found, is metabolic engineering.
[...]
A paper published recently by the journal Metabolic Engineering details their 18-month-long study to optimize production of psilocybin in the E. coli bacteria. “We are taking the DNA from the mushroom that encodes its ability to make this product and putting it in E. coli,” Jones explained. “It’s similar to the way you make beer, through a fermentation process.”...Pompeo says State Dept. officials won’t show up for scheduled impeachment depositions this week…

NASA is now officially accepting proposals for landers to take people to the Moon. Submissions are due November 1st…
October 1, 2019
Human lunar landers are a critical component of NASA’s Artemis program, an initiative to send people back to the Moon’s surface in less than five years. These landers are meant to live at a new space station that NASA wants to build in orbit around the Moon called the Gateway. Astronauts will supposedly travel to the Gateway in NASA’s future rocket — the Space Launch System, or SLS — and from there, they’ll travel in the landers down to the Moon.
Specifically, NASA is looking for landers that consist of two to three main pieces. First, the descent stage — hardware that will lower the vehicle down to the surface of the Moon. Second, the ascent stage, which is what astronauts will ride in when they take off from the lunar surface and return back to the Gateway. A third component is known as the transfer stage; this piece is basically a tug that can transport the other two elements from the Gateway to an orbit that’s closer to the Moon, making it easier to get everything to and from the surface...

October 1, 2019
The piece, entitled: "The Police Can’t Solve the Problem. They Are the Problem," was written by attorneys Derecka Purnell and Marbre Stahly-Butts and focuses on the 1994 crime bill signed into law by then-President Bill Clinton. The authors stressed law enforcement is filling prisons at all costs, despite severe overcrowding... The article concluded, "Systems of oppression, like slavery, Jim Crow, and mass incarceration, must be reduced and abolished — not reimagined. Police officers, who primarily put people in cages, are the enforcers of mass incarceration. We must reckon with the reality that the police are part of the problem and stop investing money, power and legitimacy in them."
