New Eurostat figures reveal that the country is now 24th out of 28 EU member states in unemployment levels, Expressen reports. Löfven had set a goal in 2013 for Sweden to have the lowest unemployment rate in the entire EU by 2020. With that year fast approaching, the country’s unemployment is now near the levels of France, Italy, Spain, and Greece, the latter of which has seen systemic unemployment for years.

Bernie Sanders underwent a procedure after the Democratic presidential candidate was found to have a blockage in an artery on Tuesday night, the Sanders campaign announced Wednesday. The fee banks charge for withdrawing cash from the ATM keeps climbing. For an out-of-network machine, the average cost is now $4.72 — that's a record, according to a new Bankrate.com survey. That amount includes $3.09 charged by the ATM's owner and $1.63 charged by your bank for going outside their system. If your bank account dips into the red, expect to pay several times that amount. Overdraft fees rose to an average of $33.36, pennies short of their all-time high of $33.38 in 2017.
With the United Auto Workers' strike against General Motors in its third week, pressure is mounting on both sides to reach a deal, with the company losing an estimated $1 billion and workers living on $250 per week in strike pay - about one-fifth of what they usually make... On Tuesday, a parts shortage from the strike forced the company to close pickup truck and transmission factories in Silao, Mexico, idling 6,000 workers and taking an important revenue source for GM. The plant makes light-duty versions of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup and had been supplying U.S. dealers with GM's top-selling and most profitable vehicle.
Banking will be the next industry hit by technology. While the ATM, which recently turned 50 years old, added to convenience, it also helped to trim jobs in the industry. According to a report from Wells Fargo, a significant number of jobs could be lost over the next decade to robots... According to the report, back office, bank branch, call center and corporate employees are being cut by about a fifth to a third. Less affected are jobs related to tech, sales, advising and consulting.

The five-day operation, which was carried out by members of the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, consisted of a number of undercover agents who posed as 14-year-old boy or girl. The agents would then speak to the defendant through an online medium, who would then engage in some sort of sexual activity. According to Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, the 11 men ranged from ages 19 to 55. Most of those arrested came from surrounding areas around Volusia County, and one possibly from Virginia.
By the start of this year, according to an analysis by Nature, private investors had funded at least 52 quantum-technology companies globally since 2012 — many of them spin-outs from university departments. (Academics have founded many more start-ups that have yet to close deals.) Although the value of some of the cash infusions remains secret, Nature’s analysis captures the scale of recent activity. It finds that, in 2017 and 2018, companies received at least $450 million in private funding — more than four times the $104 million disclosed over the previous two years (see ‘Cash for qubits’).
For as little as a few hundred dollars, members of the criminal forums will craft full-scale disinformation campaigns which organisations can use to falsely generated positive propaganda about themselves – or to generate negative disinformation campaigns designed to tarnish rivals with lies and malicious material... "There are a myriad of applications for these types of disinformation and influence campaigns. Just think of the implications of stock price manipulation..." said Sannikov.

The National Whistleblower Center supports, “Efforts to expose and help prosecute corruption and other wrongdoing.” The Ukraine whistleblower is doing the exact opposite. In an ongoing, and thus far unsuccessful, effort to overturn the last presidential election, this so-called whistleblower is trying to hide corruption and wrongdoing by attempting to destroy the actual whistleblower, President Trump. Rush Limbaugh, on his radio show this past Friday, made the case that Trump is the real whistleblower in Washington, DC. I contend that his supporters are as well, as they are by extension, part of the Trump movement, taking slings and arrows from friends and family over their steadfast support of Trump’s efforts to drain the swamp...
Truckloads of onions are being turned back at the Indian border. Officials are threatening raids to prevent onion smuggling. India’s neighbors, reliant on hundreds of millions of pounds of the crop, are reeling from the news: Not a single onion can leave India. Hit first by drought and then by monsoon rains, India suffered an onion shortage that nearly tripled the price in recent months, edging close to a third rail of politics in many countries: the national diet.
