In a secret interview, Democrat Rep. Schiff pressured former U.S. special representative to Ukraine Kurt Volker to testify that Ukrainian officials felt pressured by Trump to investigate Biden & son…
October 16, 2019
Volker denied that was the case, noting that Ukrainian leaders did not even know the aid was being withheld and that they believed their relationship with the U.S. was moving along satisfactorily, without them having done anything Trump mentioned in his notorious July 25 phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. When Volker repeatedly declined to agree to Schiff's characterization of events, Schiff said, "Ambassador, you're making this much more complicated than it has to be." The interview took place Oct. 3 in a secure room in the U.S. Capitol. While the session covered several topics, the issue of an alleged quid pro quo — U.S. military aid in exchange for a Ukrainian investigation of the Bidens and a public announcement that such an investigation was underway — was a significant part of the discussion.

— but she’ll have to find new representation, a Manhattan federal court judge ruled Wednesday. Giuffre — who claims she was leant to the firebrand attorney for sex by disgraced dead financier Jeffrey Epstein — sued Dershowitz in April after he publicly denounced her as a “serial perjurer” a “serial liar” and a “serial prostitute”... Dershowitz claims Giuffre plotted with her lawyers to extort him, and that he also possesses a recorded phone call in which Giuffre’s lawyer, David Boies, allegedly conceded his client may be wrong about having sex with Dershowitz.

The U.S. Attorney’s office announced the arrest of more than 300 site users across the world, 53 of which were in the U.S., and charges for a 23-year-old South Korean man, identified as Jong Woo Son, for acting as the site’s administrator. The DOJ called Welcome to Video the world’s “largest dark web child porn marketplace.”

Cuomo signs law aimed at weakening Trump’s pardon power, closes ‘double jeopardy’ loophole…
October 16, 2019
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a measure Wednesday that would allow the state to pursue charges against people who have received a presidential pardon — a law seen as a direct shot at President Donald Trump... The New York Assembly and Senate passed the bill to end the so-called "double jeopardy loophole" in May. The newly signed law creates a narrow exception in the state's double jeopardy law, which prohibits the prosecution of a person who's been tried for the same crime by the federal government.

Top Diplomat Testified That Obama Admin, Not International Community, Orchestrated Ukraine Prosecutor’s Firing…
October 16, 2019
A top U.S. diplomat and expert on Ukraine testified to Congress yesterday that the Obama administration — with former Vice President Joe Biden as its point man — orchestrated the firing of the Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating a company connected to the Biden family, sources familiar with the testimony told The Federalist.
The testimony of George Kent, a State Department official who works on the agency’s Ukraine portfolio, directly contradicts claims that the Obama administration was merely following the lead of the so-called international community in demanding the firing of Viktor Shokin, a controversial Ukrainian prosecutor who was reportedly investigating Burisma, a global energy company long suspected of corruption and money laundering...

Many people in Catalonia have long fought for it to break away from Spain and become a new European country. Demonstrations have traditionally been peaceful, but not always. Violent clashes erupted in Barcelona and other Catalan towns after Spain’s Supreme Court on Monday handed nine separatist Catalan leaders lengthy prison sentences for their part in an October 2017 effort to achieve independence.
