Padrón, who is also a Chavista official, was named on Tuesday as the new Lina Ron. Lina Ron was the founder and president of the Venezuelan Popular Unity party, one of the parties which supported President Hugo Chávez.

The investment is part of YouTube's $25 million commitment to news efforts, which is part of the $300 million Google News Initiative that was announced in 2018...

The Cook County Clerk's Office confirmed Tuesday that special prosecutor Dan Webb has indicted former "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett in connection with the alleged attack in Streeterville in January 2019. Smollett had been charged with 16 counts of felony disorderly conduct for allegedly lying to police about the alleged attack... Police and prosecutors said Smollett orchestrated the attack with the help of two brothers. One brother was an extra on "Empire" and the other was Smollett's personal trainer.

However, the grant money was distributed between two organizations that contractors had given lower ratings, Hookers for Jesus and the Lincoln Tubman Foundation...
