The U.S. repatriated Americans from China on planes chartered by the State Department in early February. They were subject to 14-day quarantines. Employees didn’t receive prior safety training relevant to the California assignment, the whistleblower alleges... The employees weren’t tested for the coronavirus before they left two California quarantine sites... There is no evidence that any of the workers contracted or spread the virus.
Officers have said they go after undocumented adults with criminal records and not specific schools. But immigration rights activists said three incidents occurred in Colorado in the past week involving fathers detained before or after dropping off their children... ICE says it has a “sensitive location” policy forbidding them from making arrests in schools, hospitals, churches, funerals and weddings, but a school bus stop is legal if there are no children present.
After analyzing samples from the meteorite Acfer 086, a team of researchers from Harvard University and the biotech companies PLEX Corporation and Bruker Scientific found that the protein’s building blocks differed chemically from terrestrial protein. As they write in their research, which they shared on ArXiv on Saturday, “this is the first report of a protein from any extra-terrestrial source.”
“During those exchanges, the woman proposed that Reitz sexually assault a young girl and sent him a sexually explicit photo of the girl,” the Attorney General’s Office said. Horrifyingly enough is the fact that the text had described the girl as the woman’s own 5-year-old daughter. A criminal complaint in that case alleges Reitz responded to the child’s photo by texting “NICE!” and making a reference to sexual arousal. Knox made similar exchanges with Reitz...
Some House Democrats viewed the amendments as “poison polls” that would sink the legislation hammered out by Nadler and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, also from California. The legislation was expected to pass the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, opening the door for a full-chamber vote to renew the program before its expiration date on March 15. Democrats, however, now face an inter-party feud over details of the bill that will likely push back the vote...
Health officials have been suggesting the use of face masks to prevent the spread and transmission of the coronavirus, which is quickly spreading around the globe. But the real question is do they really protect you from the virus? The simple answer is yes, but efficacy is still not 100%. As masks sell out everywhere, it’s time to understand what they do to help...
The survey found that the obesity rate was 42% — higher than the 40% found in a similar 2015-16 study. The severe obesity rate was more than 9% in the new survey, up from the 8% figure in the previous one. Those increases aren’t considered statistically significant: The survey numbers are small enough that there’s a mathematical chance the rates didn’t truly rise.
The data was compiled by the Honest Elections Project, a new nonprofit organization that blames the seemingly implausible statistics on a failure of states to properly update voter rolls to account for people moving, dying or being incarcerated.
The group examined publicly available registration records and compared it with citizen voting-age data from the U.S. Census Bureau, describing the figures as "suspiciously high."
But Recode has learned that over the past 18 months, the world’s largest brick-and-mortar retailer has explored creating its own paid membership program that would include perks that Amazon can’t replicate, in part to avoid a direct comparison to Prime... As soon as next month, Walmart plans to start publicly testing a membership program called Walmart+, according to sources.
Pugh’s political fall began in March when The Baltimore Sun revealed she had entered into a no-bid deal with the University of Maryland Medical System, where Pugh sat on the board of directors, to buy 100,000 copies of her sloppily self-published “Healthy Holly” books for $500,000. She later resigned from the board and as mayor amid multiple investigations into her finances and the book sales. In total, she netted more than $850,000, prosecutors say.

Commandant General David Berger is said to have instructed that all Marine bases remove any "Confederate-related paraphernalia" worldwide, reported Task and Purpose. The directive was sent out as part of a memo, seen by Military.com, in which Berger demanded several initiatives be put in place, including finding ways to place more women in combat positions and to update their recruitment policies to prohibit those with prior domestic abuse convictions.
Likely voters under 30 actually have a net positive perception of socialism, by 43% to 39%, according to our poll, done in conjunction with John Zogby Strategies—the largest-ever ongoing survey project focused on young voters. That’s not as strong as their positive perceptions of capitalism, 50% to 33%. But not that far behind... three in five young American voters would either prefer a mainly socialist economic system for America—or aren’t sure.
