The leader of a libertarian-leaning tech group is stepping down as its president after tweeting that it would be “poetic justice” if President Donald Trump died from the coronavirus, the group confirmed Friday. Berin Szóka, president of Washington-based think tank TechFreedom, will be taking an indefinite sabbatical to write a book on tech policy, as first reported by POLITICO earlier Friday.
Ohio, Maryland, Oregon, New Mexico, Michigan and West Virginia and Virginia have ordered all schools closed, and the governor of Kentucky has recommended closing all schools in that state. Major metropolitan districts in Atlanta, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, Washington, D.C. and Austin, Texas, have also shuttered.
Federal prosecutors in Boston say that David Sidoo, a Vancouver energy executive and former player in the Canadian Football League, paid $200,000 to have someone secretly take the college entrance exam in place of his two sons. Sidoo, 60, pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit wire and mail fraud under a plea agreement that calls for him to serve a 90-day prison sentence and pay a $250,000 fine.

Gates stepping down from the board is apparently due to similar motivations, with a press release announcing the news citing a desire to “dedicate more time to his philanthropic priorities.”
The new charges pertain to a female identified in court papers as Jane Doe No. 5, who the 53-year-old Kelly allegedly transported across state lines for the purposes of sex in 2015, while she was still a minor.
With the coronavirus and falling oil prices battering the economy, economic confidence dropped four points this month with the Rasmussen Reports Economic Index hitting 140.0. This is the lowest finding since October after confidence had spiked to a five-year high in January. Enthusiasm about the economy started to grow immediately following Donald Trump's election as president in November 2016 and jumped to 147.8 in January 2020. In President Obama’s final years in office, this index reached a high of 121.5 in January 2015 and was at 108.1 his last month in the White House.
