HOUSE Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to abolish the ELECTORAL COLLEGE…
The Democratic Party is hungry for a permanent majority. But to get this done they would need a Constitutional amendment – and that’s not easy.
Co-sponsors of resolution to abolish Electoral College (Several Reps. from NY & CA, which would ultimately decide elections).
- Lofgren (CA)
- Eshoo (CA)
- Schakowsky (IL)
- Brownley (CA)
- DeFazio (OR)
- Espaillat (NY)
- Garamendi (CA)
- Cooper (TN)
Chances of this passing? Not much. Article 5 of the Constitution describes the process to alter the Constitution; An amendment can be proposed either by a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate or by a convention of states called for by two-thirds of the state legislatures.
