Video Shows Greek Police Beating Up Citizens For Defying Lockdown Orders…

The beating happened on Sunday March 7th in Nea Smyrni, a suburb of Athens, Greece.

According to a Facebook post, an eye witness said “A riot squad was beating up a child not even 18 years old because he did not have an identity card… We all gathered, calling for them to stop but they did not listen. They continued to beat him mercilessly with kicks and their batons. I have no words to express what I felt today… Disgust, shame and anger at those who are supposed to protect us.”

The Greek Reporter explains that the police claim they were responding to a gathering of 30 people who were violating lockdown orders. Apparently people from the group became violent with the police and injured two officers. Out of the thirty people 11 were eventually detained. Later that day over 500 people showed up protesting police brutality.
