New York Authorities Find Bomb-Making Materials in Astoria Queens Home…

The NYPD and FBI were tipped off to the potential explosives after the first floor of a two-story home caught fire in Queens, NY. A man that lived on the first floor was acting erratically and was taken to the hospital for observation.

The property’s landlord is the one that found the suspicious items while surveying the damage and immediately notified authorities. NYPD Deputy Commissioner John Miller said during a Tuesday night press briefing that the materials found “included a number of chemicals, a number of packages, a number of books and manuals,” related to military explosives and booby traps. Ammonium nitrate was also found on the scene.
