November 27, 2018
"The lessons of history are still there. In the last century, we had two world wars, And in between them, the Great Depression. I don’t think anybody should really try to have a repetition of history. These things should never happen again, so people have to act in a responsible way."
When China’s envoy was asked whether he thought the current tensions could degenerate into all-out conflict, he called the outcome "unimaginable" and that both countries should prevent it. But he did not rule "all-out conflict" out.

Retired Justice John Paul Stevens Has Convinced Justice Kennedy To Remove Many of Antonin Scalia’s 2nd Amendment Caveats…
November 27, 2018
In the Supreme Court's 2008 decision in District of Columbia vs Heller, Heller held that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms. Yet Justice Antonin Scalia's opinion for the Court contained so many caveats, that many gun regulations remain intact a decade later.
But, in an interview with the New York Times above, retired Justice John Paul Stevens said that many of Antonin Scalia's caveats will be removed soon. According to the article above:
...Justice Stevens wrote that he helped persuade Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, who was in the majority, to ask for “some important changes” to Justice Scalia’s opinion. A passage in the opinion, which Justice Scalia had plainly added to secure a fifth vote, said the decision “should not be taken to cast doubt” on many kinds of gun control laws.
Good thing Justice Kennedy retired.

Australia, In The Crossfire Between China & The U.S…
November 27, 2018
Located in the south of the South Pacific region, Australia is likely to become one of the first victims of the increasing tensions between its major trade partner, China, and its guardian and political ally, the U.S.
For historical reasons, Australia shares with the West its values (whatever that means), vision and mission in the South Pacific, serving as an American military and geopolitical enclave from where the U.S. launches its hegemonic interests in Asia. On the other hand, Australia is a major raw materials exporter feeding the Chinese economy, from where Australia has benefited enormously.
