DHS Calls CDC To Investigate Growing Number Of Sick Migrants

A DHS official told reporters that “literally dozens” of sick migrants are being transported to hospitals across the border each day and that growing numbers of children showing illness are present in border patrol custody.
“We’re doing dozens of hospital trips every single day with children that have fevers or manifest other medical conditions,” CBP Commissioner Kevin McAleenan told CBSNews Wednesday morning.
An official also told reporters that DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is requesting that Mexican authorities also investigate the living conditions of migrant holding camps across the border to see if that is the source of illness.

The announcement comes following a New York Times report last week that exposed the scheme, in which the users created a Facebook page and imitated conservative Alabamians who weren’t satisfied with the Republican candidate while encouraging others to write in another candidate. Moore, whose campaign ultimately was clouded by allegations of sexual misconduct with teenage girls while he was in his 30s, ended up losing the race to Democrat Doug Jones.
“We’ve recently removed five accounts run by multiple individuals for engaging in coordinated inauthentic behavior on Facebook around the Alabama special election, and our investigation is ongoing,” Facebook said in a statement. “We take a strong stand against people or organizations that create networks of accounts to mislead others about who they are or what they’re doing.”

GoFundMe says it has refunded more that $400,000 to the 14,000 donors who gave money to what prosecutors called a “good Samaritan” scam set up by a former New Jersey couple who are now facing criminal charges.
The viral fundraiser put together by Kate McClure and Mark D’Amico, then living in Florence, was ostensibly to raise money for Johnny Bobbitt, a homeless military veteran, after Bobbit supposedly gave McClure his last $20. But the scheme quickly unraveled as money poured in, and the three began fighting over it.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers dropped off more than 200 undocumented immigrants outside a Greyhound bus terminal in El Paso, Texas, on Sunday night without an apparent plan for housing them, according to Sgt. Robert Gomez, spokesman with the El Paso Police Department.

Last year, Breitbart News reported that about 650 American workers with Wells Fargo were laid off from their jobs in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Washington. Authorities arrested four suspects connected to the murders of two young Scandinavian women, along with 15 other individuals potentially linked to the killings, according to a Monday statement from a security source.
The four main suspects are described as “lone wolves” who reportedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) three days before the girls’ murders, according to Reuters, citing the Moroccan state 2M TV. Though the suspects pledged allegiance to ISIS before allegedly killing the women, authorities do not believe the foreign terrorist group aided the suspects in the attack, according to intelligence spokesman Boubker Sabik.
While the video of the suspects pledging allegiance to ISIS has not been verified by American press, Moroccan authorities deemed it authentic, according to CNN.

A Border Patrol agent noticed that the child, who was apprehended with his father, "showed signs of potential illness" on Monday, CBP said, citing initial reporting.
The father and son were then taken to a medical center in Alamogordo, New Mexico, where the child was initially diagnosed with a common cold, according to the statement. When the boy was evaluated for release, hospital staff found a fever and he was held for an additional 90 minutes before being released on Monday afternoon, CBP said. The boy was given prescriptions for amoxicillin, an antibiotic, and the painkiller ibuprofen.
On Monday night, the boy was nauseous and began vomiting and was sent back to the same hospital but died shortly after midnight on Tuesday, the agency said.
