The company is in charge of blocking, blacklisting and preventing internet access to certain groups, sites, and information in China. Ironically, Tencent is responsible for the banning of Reddit in China.
It is the policy of the United States to enhance the opportunity for women to meaningfully participate in, contribute to, and benefit from economic opportunities as individuals, workers, consumers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and investors, so that they enjoy the same access, rights, and opportunities as men to participate in, contribute to, control, and benefit from economic activity.
To advance a priority articulated in my National Security Strategy to empower women worldwide to participate more fully in civic and economic life, I hereby establish the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative (Initiative). As the National Security Strategy states: “Societies that empower women to participate fully in civic and economic life are more prosperous and peaceful. We will support efforts to advance women’s equality, protect the rights of women and girls, and promote women and youth empowerment programs.”
The Office of National Statistics (ONS) data from the Home Office Homicide Index released Thursday revealed that there were 695 homicides in the year to March 2018, 15 per cent higher that in the preceding period.
Adding in fatalities from terror attacks in London and Manchester, that figure rises to 726, with the total homicides at their highest since the year ending March 2008, where 729 people were killed.
The most common method of murder was as a result of knives or other sharp implements, where there was an increase of 73 fatal stabbings on the year before to 285 — a rise of 34 per cent — and representing the highest number since the Homicide Index began in 1946.
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday approved more than three dozen nominees to the federal bench, paving the way for a full vote before the Senate as President Trump continues to reshape the federal judiciary.
The nominees include six to the federal circuit courts, to which Trump has already appointed 30 judges. The Senate Judiciary Committee also approved 34 nominees to the federal district courts, two to the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and two to the U.S. Court of International Trade.
he Senate Judiciary Committee narrowly advanced William Barr’s nomination to be attorney general on Thursday on a party line vote, sending it to the full Senate which is expected to confirm him as President Trump’s chief law enforcement officer.
Twelve Republican senators on the committee voted to advance Barr's nomination, while 10 Democrats voted against it.
It's a setting or option on most major browsers. You turn it on, and as you surf the web, your browser sends a little bit of metadata to websites telling them not to track you. It's supposed to help protect user privacy, and it was proposed back in 2009 by pro-privacy researchers.
"Potential use as a fingerprinting variable" suggests that some advertisers or scammers could use that setting as a way to track your browsing across devices or websites — the opposite of how the feature is intended.
This 4 Min clip of a UK TV presenter demolishing former London Mayor Ken Livingstone’s argument that socialist Venezuela’s woes were caused by ‘US sanctions’ is absolutely delicious. I'm blown away that BBC allowed this on their cuck network.
The case announced Thursday stems from a lengthy investigation out of Kentucky led by U.S. Secret Service agents.
The scheme unfolded on websites like Craigslist and eBay, and the fraudsters would post false ads for expensive items like cars that didn’t exist. Prosecutors say they’d persuade American buyers to send money to fictitious profiles, duping them in some cases into thinking the sellers were U.S. military and about to be deployed. They handed over money, but goods never showed up.
In 2012, Nancy Oakley, a city commissioner in Madeira Beach, allegedly licked Shane Crawford, the city manager at the time, after she became upset with him at a meeting that was meant to honor a sister city in the Bahamas.
Three other men also testified that Oakley had licked their faces in public without their permission.
Oakley resigned Tuesday, after Florida's state ethics panel determined last week that Oakley had violated the state’s ethics code “by misusing her position by exhibiting inappropriate behavior toward city staff.” It also recommended she be fined $5,000 for the alleged behavior.
A judge has agreed to unseal part of the search warrant that authorized last year’s FBI raids on the home and office of President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.
But Judge William H. Pauley III ruled Thursday that some parts of the documents should stay secret because making them public could jeopardize ongoing investigations, “including those pertaining to or arising from Cohen’s campaign finance crimes.”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (D-NY) Green New Deal is a new proposed bill that would allow the government further control over economic regulation. This would include giving every American the right to employment through an Economic Bill of Rights. This economic bill of rights will also give workers the "right to a living wage" and obligatory access to health care that would be given by the Medicare for All bill. There's also a "right" included to tuition-free, federally funded college education. It would also give them the power to make a "Green Transition," basically prioritizing environmentally friendly businesses and jobs.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on who you are), the bill has been struggling to gain support from other Democrats. Only a few representatives including Brendan Boyl (PA) and Joaquin Castro (Texas) have helped sponsor the Deal. Even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has described climate change as her "flagship" issue, chided the bill and its supporters.
The Democrat, who has long teased her possible entry into the already-crowded Democratic primary field, is set to make a speech on Sunday in Minneapolis, with many speculating she will announce her candidacy.
But a new report claims that at least three top campaign aides withdrew from consideration to lead the campaign over alleged abuse and mistreatment of her staff.
An illegal alien from Honduras, who had been convicted of multiple child sex offenses in 2007, was charged Wednesday with illegally re-entering the United States after he was deported in 2013.
Marvin Yovani Mejia-Ramos – aka Martin Jose Romos-Ramirez, aka Ricardo Rodriguez-Morales – 50, an illegal alien from Honduras who has used multiple aliases and countries of origin, was charged Feb. 6 with illegal re-entry by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas.
There were job gains everywhere from transportation (27,000) to health care (42,000) to hospitality (74,000). Under Trump, construction gained 338,000 jobs in 12 months while manufacturing picked up 261,000 jobs in that same period. There was good news for many industries, but bad news for one.
The media is freezing colder than the polar vortex with thousands of lost jobs in January and February. Gannett fired 400 employees... the Miami Herald, the Kansas City Star and the Charlotte Observer, among many others, announced voluntary buyouts for 10% of its employees after having fired 3.5% of its staff or 140 employees... Tronc, another publishing giant, has already been making major cuts at newspapers like the New York Daily News and the Los Angeles Times. Reuters expects to cut 3,200 jobs or 12% of its global workforce, closing 55 offices by 2020. BuzzFeed fired 15% of its staff or 220 employees... Huffington Post, cut 7% or 800 jobs... Vice Media is laying off 10% or 250 employees...
Gucci has pulled a balaclava sweater from its store after the Internet realized it looked like Ralph Northam at the statehouse Christmas party.
The sweater drew the ire of a collective Internet that was inundated with stories about blackface, and they were just not having any more of it. In light of the backlash, the allegedly fashion-forward company pulled the item from its store and apologized on social media.
