Dear men, razor brand Gillette wants you to know that you need to shed your inherent toxic masculinity - that all men have (trust them) and have been making excuses for, and haven't done anything about until now.
The new ad campaign didn't have such a great start. As of the time of this post the video has just over a million views with 13k upvotes and 130k downvotes.
Andrew Weissmann, the lead prosecutor for Special Counsel Robert Mueller, has a history of questionable conduct. But the full extent of Weissmann’s alleged prosecutorial misconduct is unclear because some of the most serious charges were hidden behind redactions and secreted in sealed court filings.
Two months ago I sued to have these records released, but late Friday federal Judge Sim Lake’s case manager confirmed that several of the sought-after documents are missing from the court record.
Following meetings with top Saudi Arabian leaders in the country's capital on Monday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that one of the Trump administration's top regional goals is to "make sure that the Iranian people get control of their capital," a shot across the bow to a ruling regime that has spent billions to beef up its foreign military and terrorist operations.
[...] "The end goal is to convince the Iranian people that America is serious about empowering them and creating opportunity for the Iranian people" to confront the regime about their anger over a foreign policy that spends billions on war and terror, Pompeo said in response to questions from the Free Beacon and other news outlets.
Three of the claimants in the $3.5 million national class-action suit are based in the Badger State.
“This is really a groundbreaking case. Hopefully it sets a precedent and will serve as a warning to government officials who further feel tempted to discriminate against U.S. citizens based on their viewpoints,” Edward Greim, attorney for Kansas City, Missouri-based Graves Garrett LLC told MacIver News Service.
Most of the claimants will each receive a check for approximately $14,000, Greim said. Five conservative groups that were integrally involved in the lawsuit get a bonus payment of $10,000 each, the attorney said.
Last Friday, just as CES came to a close, the South China Morning Post ran a story on NYPD’s use of Chinese technology to monitor citizens. Specifically, a video surveillance system deployed at River Park Towers in the Bronx. “At a time when China and the United States are locked in a rivalry on several fronts including trade and technology,” explained the article, “Hikvision – which is the world’s largest surveillance technology company and based in Hangzhou in eastern China – has supplied the equipment and software used by an American force that polices a population of about 8.6 million people.”
Hikvision is controlled by the Chinese government.
A fleet of 500 robots is heading to your neighborhood grocery store... If you’ve been known to pick up oatmilk, gluten-free bread, and boxes of Lucky Charms at 500 Giant, Martin’s, and Stop & Shop locations, you may run into a googly-eyed robot named Marty. The new robots with the not-at-all-suspicious name and face aren’t here to steal human jobs, but to alert customers to a cleanup-in-aisle-three situation.
Thanks to a partnership between Retail Business Services and Badger Technologies, the in-store robots are being used to “identify hazards, such as liquid, powder and bulk food item spills, and provide reporting that enables corrective action,” according to press release. The robots’ ever-watchful eyes (eye?) can help stores mitigate risk caused when someone breaks a jar of Prego (or Ragu) and then someone else walks through it and wipes out in a puddle of marinara. Now the robot can alert people to spills and humans can clean them up...
The Supreme Court on Monday refused to take up a challenge to President Trump’s appointment of Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general.
The vehicle for the challenge to Whitaker’s appointment was a case against the attorney general, then Jeff Sessions, filed by a Nevada man convicted of nonviolent felonies who was seeking restoration of his right to possess a firearm.
Lawyers for the man, Barry Michaels, asked the high court to substitute Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as acting attorney general, contending the appointment of Whitaker violated the Constitution and federal statutes.
"These 12 legislators have gotten over $630,000 from the three utilities in campaign contributions. Traditionally these trips are paid for by the sponsor. They are comped," said Jamie Court, the president of Consumer Watchdog. The annual junket was hosted by a group called the Independent Voter Foundation. Executives from PG&E didn't end up attending because of the Camp Fire, but Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas and Electric were there.
According to Consumer Watchdog, the utility companies are hoping the California Legislature passes a law where customers would pay for the cost of the fires with higher utility bills. Legislators in attendance included Assembly members Tom Daly, Frank Bigelow, Bill Brough, Jim Cooper, Heath Flora, Jim Frazier, Reggie Jones-Sawyer, Freddie Rodriguez, Blanca Rubio and the Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon, as well as senators Hueso and Cathleen Galgiani, according to the Independent Voter Project, which organized the event.
“Justice Ginsburg will continue to work from home next week and will participate in the consideration and decision of the cases on the basis of the briefs and the transcripts of oral arguments,” a Supreme Court spokeswoman said in a Friday statement.
Despite Ginsburg’s continued absence, the court said her prognosis is positive and no further treatment is expected.
“Her recovery from surgery is on track,” the statement added. “Post-surgery evaluations indicate no evidence of remaining disease, and no further treatment is required.”
With two months of data still to be reported, exports to Taiwan have already surpassed the records set in 2017. Through October 2018, exports totaled 49,135 metric tons (mt), up 34% year over year and well over the full-year record of 44,800 mt. Export value was $455.3 million, up 36% and shattering the previous high of $410 million.
When final 2018 results are available, export value to Taiwan will exceed $540 million, more than doubling in just the past five years. Chilled beef will make up about $300 million of this total, as U.S. beef holds more than 75% of Taiwan’s chilled beef market – the highest share of any Asian destination.
Channel 2 Action News has learned that a man carried a gun through the TSA checkpoint at Atlanta’s airport and carried it all the way through to his destination: Tokyo.
TSA confirmed the incident with ABC News, saying the man and his firearm made it through the checkpoint at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Jan. 2 and he boarded Delta Flight DL295 to Tokyo Narita International Airport.
An airline source told ABC News that the owner of the gun informed airline workers of what happened “upon arrival” in Japan.
"Two Poseidon-carrying submarines are expected to enter service with the Northern Fleet and the other two will join the Pacific Fleet. Each of the submarines will carry a maximum of eight drones and, therefore, the total number of Poseidons on combat duty may reach 32 vehicles," the source said.
The special-purpose nuclear-powered submarine Khabarovsk currently being built at the Sevmash Shipyard will become one of the organic carriers of the Poseidon nuclear-capable underwater drone. Also, special-purpose submarines and Project 949A nuclear-powered underwater cruisers operational in the Russian Navy may be used as the carriers "after their appropriate upgrade," the source noted.
