In March, two groups of employees wrote letters to SPLC leadership, warning them that “allegations of mistreatment, sexual harassment, gender discrimination and racism threaten the moral authority of this organization and our integrity along with it,” and that the SPLC leaders were complicit “in decades of racial discrimination, gender discrimination, and sexual harassment and/or assault.”
To the delight of LGBTQ activists, the SPLC began placing Christian conservative groups alongside skinheads, Nazis and the Klan in its materials and on the “hate map.”
The media and corporate America should refrain from using the SPLC as a source until it cleans up its hateful act and stops smearing people.
Huffman was accused of paying a consultant, Rick Singer, $15,000 disguised as a charitable donation to boost her daughter’s SAT score. Authorities say the 56-year-old actress also discussed going through with the same plan for her younger daughter, but she ultimately decided not to.
Other parents charged in the scheme include prominent figures in law, finance, fashion, the food and beverage industry and other fields. It’s the biggest college admissions scandal ever prosecuted by the U.S. Justice Department, embroiling elite universities across the country and laying bare the lengths to which status-seeking parents will go to secure their children a coveted spot.
“How would you deal with the social services connected with opening the border, such as health care?” Sanders was asked by an attendee. “Who do you think is suggesting opening the border?” Sanders asked back. He then went on to explain: “You’re getting your information wrong; that is not my view.”
The senator elaborated: “If you open the borders, there’s a lot of poverty in this world, and you’re going to have people from all over the world. And I don’t think that’s something that we can do at this point. Can’t do it.”
Iran’s top security council has designated U.S. military forces a “terrorist organization” in reaction to Washington’s decision to blacklist Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a foreign terrorist group...
A pilot whale named Fredi died at SeaWorld Orlando this weekend, the second whale to perish at the theme park since January. The marine mammal had been part of a mass stranding of 23 whales near Cudjoe Key in 2011 and was one of eight rescued by SeaWorld and suffered from “persistent health concerns” since, the company said in a release Sunday. “In recent months, she had been showing signs of fatigue and loss of appetite,” SeaWorld said, adding that Fredi was being treated for an infection at the time of her death Saturday.
Not sure how we missed this one as it seems to have been published in February. Nonetheless, it's something to take note of and have it archived on Centipede Nation. It's an interesting article that shows how it would also be possible to add night vision to cure blindness.
After the driver failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens, the agency said Border Patrol agents deployed tire-deflation spikes on the roadway.
The minivan swerved to avoid the device but ended up rolling over and ejecting two people from the vehicle. Five other passengers inside the van were injured in the crash and were transported to an area hospital.
‘I thought Keith Raniere was trying to help people, I was wrong’.
She will be sentenced on Sept. 11, 2019 at noon. With each felony comes a possible 20 year maximum sentence. There is no minimum sentence. Because of her lack of a previous criminal record and sentencing guidelines she will probably land in the 3-5 year sentencing range. Her plea deal is the same as Lauren Salzman’s. And this is a tremendously fortunate plea deal for Mack since she will avoid all sex trafficking charges, charges that could have landed her in prison for more than 15 years and required her to register as a sex offender when she was released.
It is not yet known what charges she will plead guilty to and whether she will be entering into a cooperation agreement. It is expected, however, she will be pleading guilty to two felonies and maybe more.
Per the second superseding indictment, she is charged with racketeering, racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud conspiracy forced labor conspiracy, sex trafficking conspiracy, sex trafficking, and attempted sex trafficking. She is facing up to life in prison on the current charges.
The prison authorities acknowledge the problems but pin the blame on prisoners. Inmates toss food onto the ventilation system through the openings in the ceiling, prison Lieutenant Michael Owens testified in court, adding that the rotting food attracts insects, maggots and mice. Prisoners were also accused of attracting pests by storing leftover fruit and bread in ventilation ducts, for brewing illegal beverages later.
California authorities say they are doing everything they can, but the total cost of overdue maintenance amounts to more than $1 billion. The facility decay problem, however, goes far beyond a single state, as other reports have revealed setbacks such as malfunctioning heating systems in federal detention centers in the New York borough of Brooklyn and near Los Angeles, as well as poor medical care at federal immigration facilities.
+ "General Flynn was the guest of honor and he sat on one side of the table in the middle. I sat on the opposite side of the table to Flynn next to Richard Dearlove because I was the only woman at dinner, and it's a British custom that the only woman gets to sit next to the host," Lokhova told Fox News, who added that she has never been alone with Flynn. On the contrary, the unplanned encounter was professional and mildly productive.
Lokhova's contact with Flynn at the dinner was used in several 2017 media reports to suggest that he had been "gotten to" by the Russians, while pundits and social media commentators suggested she was a Kremlin "honeypot." I'm not a Russian spy and I have never worked for the Russian government," said Lokhova, adding "I believe that General Flynn was targeted and I was used to do it."
The US has given the Lebanese army state-of-the-art weaponry. What does that tell you? It means the Lebanese army was separated from Hezbollah. I am the only person in the world who has written how it was done...
Mr. Hart was delivering a speech during the induction ceremony when the police say a 26-year-old fan, Zachary Madsen, slipped under the yellow ropes of the wrestling ring and knocked The Hitman to the ground.
A group of WWE wrestlers, who were standing ringside, quickly joined the fray, tackling Mr. Madsen and tearing him away from Mr. Hart, the police said.
Judge Richard Seeborg in San Francisco granted a request by civil liberties groups to halt the practice while their lawsuit moves forward. He put the decision on hold until Friday to give U.S. officials the chance to appeal to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals...
[Facebook] actually didn't have any systems to check for the events in Christchurch [..] Maybe a delay on livestreaming would be a good thing as an interim measure until they can sort out their AI. "
What really gets the blood boiling about this statement is that the complaint as stated is that Facebook isn't prescient. Yes, good job commissioner, you found that they weren't prepared to deal with an event which hadn't happened yet (/s). If policy comes out of this whole debacle, we can only imagine how poorly advised it will be. This Privacy Commissioner from New Zealand might just be a bozo.
