August 6, 2019
The United States and the Taliban have resolved differences in peace talks over U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, as well as over insurgent guarantees on cutting ties with other extremist groups, a Taliban official said Tuesday. The development came during U.S.-Taliban talks over the past two days in the Gulf Arab state of Qatar, where the Taliban maintain a political office. The U.S. side did not immediately confirm or provide details of what was resolved but the U.S. envoy reported “excellent progress” in the talks. The Taliban official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss details of the negotiations.

Then there's the Socialist Rifle Association (SRA). This group's logo has a striking similarity to that of the defunct USSR. If nothing else, the SRA is diverse in its own way. According to the New Republic article, "2,000 of its members identify as LGBTQ, and 8 percent are transgender." A certain irony surrounds all these Antifa gun groups. Every one of them purports to be for minorities, yet their membership is overwhelmingly white males...SpaceX building two orbital Starships simultaneously right now…

The government is also particularly interested in automation technologies suitable for agricultural, forestry, construction, and fishery applications, as well as any proposals which will further Japan's goal of recycling waste from industrial applications...
Tel Aviv researchers develop a nano-vaccine for the most aggressive skin cancer…
August 6, 2019
Their innovative approach has so far proven effective in preventing the development of melanoma in mouse models and in treating primary tumors and metastases that result from melanoma. The focus of the research is on a nanoparticle that serves as the basis for the new vaccine... "In our study, we have shown for the first time that it is possible to produce an effective nano-vaccine against melanoma and to sensitize the immune system to immunotherapies." The researchers harnessed tiny particles, about 170 nanometers in size, made of a biodegradable polymer. Within each particle, they "packed" two peptides -- short chains of amino acids, which are expressed in melanoma cells. They then injected the nanoparticles (or "nano-vaccines") into a mouse model bearing melanoma.

Voters sue California over tax return law targeting Trump…
August 5, 2019
Judicial Watch's lawsuit argues that unless the California law is enjoined, "states will assume the power to create their own qualifications for national candidates seeking to obtain a party’s nomination for president."
"This could lead to as many as 50 distinct and possibly inconsistent sets of qualifications regarding the only national election in the United States," the lawsuit argues. "Using rationales similar to California’s, states might come to demand medical records, mental health records, sealed juvenile records, driving records, results of intelligence, aptitude, or personality tests, college applications, Amazon purchases, Google search histories, browsing histories, or Facebook friends."
The four California voters who are plaintiffs in the lawsuit are: Jerry Griffin, a registered Republican from Los Angeles County; Michelle Bolotin, a registered independent from Los Angeles County; Michael Sienkiewicz, a registered Republican from San Francisco County and James B. Oerding, a registered Democrat from Yolo County...

Asked about the email, DNC Communications Director Xochitl Hinojosa said: "Our goal is to end gun violence once and for all. The way to do that is by helping organizations like the Giffords PAC and by electing Democrats up and down the ticket who will work day in and day out to pass the reforms we need to protect our families and our children. That's the only way to ensure change." On Sunday afternoon, 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., also sent out a fundraising email citing the shootings, with the subject line: “No more thoughts and prayers.”
