As usual, this had heads exploding among democrats who rushed to defend Cummings and claim that the President was “lying” again. Unfortunately for them, at least a few media outlets did their homework and went to fact check the numbers. CBS in Baltimore did the required digging and was forced to concede the unpleasant truth. The President was right.

E-cigarette giant Juul’s campaign donations favor Democrats…
August 4, 2019
E-cigarette giant Juul Labs gave nearly $100,000 to members of Congress during the first half of 2019 as the company faced the bulk of the blame for a surge of underage vaping and calls for tighter government regulation of the industry... The boost in contributions is the latest sign of the company's expanding influence operation in Washington and around the country. An explosion of underage vaping has put Juul in the crosshairs of a number of Democrats, who have accused the company's early advertising and marketing of leading to the current wave of vaping by American teens. Juul is ramping up its political giving as Congress considers legislation to raise the minimum age to purchase all tobacco and vaping products from 18 to 21.

Chinese scientists claim they have developed an infrared light-based, remotely-controlled gene-editing tool that can target and kill cancer cells with precision…
August 3, 2019
The strong penetrability of infrared light enables scientists to precisely control the gene editing tool in deep human tissue. The CRISPR-Cas9 technique allows genetic materials to be added, removed or altered in particular locations in the human genome. But it remains a challenge in precision medicine worldwide due to the off-target effect of the gene-editing tool, like causing mutation or even cancer in healthy cells due to the inaccurate excision of genes. The new technique developed by Song’s team has been tested on lab rats with tumors, whose progression was delayed about 20 days after the rat was treated with the new technique...
That sounds a lot better than the shotgun approach of radiation, which also destroys healthy tissue surrounding the tumor.

Texas Lt. Gov. tells Antifa to ‘stay out’ of El Paso after Walmart shooting…
August 3, 2019
"Stay out of El Paso," he told Antifa while appearing on Fox News. He noted that while the group wasn't usually welcome, they especially weren't welcome after the shooting. "Stay out of Texas, basically," Patrick said. "We don't need them coming in on Sept. 1. We didn't need them coming in before this happened." The shooting came roughly a month before a scheduled visit from Antifa, which planned to conduct a "Border Resistance" militancy training tour.
Patrick specifically referred to that scheduled visit while speaking to Fox News, noting that it would be inappropriate especially after the mass shooting. The flyer for the event reportedly showed people shooting arrows at a tower near what appeared to be a border fence. The group issued a "Call to Action" for 10 days in El Paso.

Hundreds Arrested in Moscow as Protests Pile Pressure on Putin…
August 3, 2019
Police detained more than 600 people at an unauthorized protest in the Russian capital demanding fair elections, as a recent wave of public discontent in Russia showed few signs of abating. The rallies, protesting the exclusion of opposition candidates from local elections, came a week after more than 1,300 people were detained and dozens injured in similar demonstrations.
The mass protests, which began in Moscow in mid-July, are some of the most significant displays of public dissatisfaction in Russia since President Vladimir Putin returned to the Kremlin in 2012. The rallies, which follow demonstrations on various issues across the country in the past year, come as Mr. Putin’s approval rating has fallen to multiyear lows.
California School Lifts Ban On ‘Bible Day’…
August 3, 2019
A California school district has ended a lawsuit by lifting its ban on “Bring Your Bible to School Day.” The religious-liberty group Freedom X said the settlement will require the district to change its policies and pay some $15,000 for the lawyers in the case. In a 4-0 vote this week, the Huntington Beach City School District board of trustees endorsed a policy change that will permit “students to engage in religious expression without fear of reprisal.” The dispute began when the principal of John R. Peterson Elementary School was accused of violating the First Amendment rights of two students who sought to hand out flyers to other students promoting “Bring Your Bible to School Day” during lunch and recess.

Karem tweeted that he'd received an email from the White House telling him that as of Monday, his press pass would be "suspended for 30 days." "Yes, I can and will appeal this decision," Karem added. CNN reported that the White House cited Karem's behavior at the July 11 White House social media summit. While waiting for a presidential press conference following the summit, Karem and Gorka got into a shouting match after Karem described the summit attendees as “group of people that are eager for demonic possession."
