When American reporters arrived at the meeting, where world leaders were expected to discuss the Amazon wildfires, the president’s chair was empty. United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo were spotted at the meeting. A White House official attended the meeting in Trump’s stead, according to the White House. “The President had scheduled meetings and bilaterals with Germany and India, so a senior member of the Administration attended in his stead,” the White House informed reporters in a statement. Asked about the missed meeting, Trump replied to reporters, “I want clean air and clean water.”

Through social media alone, Squires said he has found at least 35 people who were diagnosed with brain tumors and lived for an extended time within about 2 or 3 miles of the National Fireworks Co. site, where crews are now working to unearth unexploded ordnance buried decades ago. Many of these cases involve people diagnosed as young adults who lived near Factory or Forge ponds or the Drinkwater River.

The number of new cases of brain and other nervous system cancers among the general population is about 6.4 per 100,000 people each year, according to the National Cancer Institute, and a 2005 report estimated about 2,014 people lived within a 1-mile radius of the site based on data from the late 1990s. Squires said based on that data, there should be maybe one person diagnosed with a brain tumor in the area around the fireworks site, not dozens.

So far in Trump's presidency, more than 60 miles of existing barriers and fences have been replaced with new wall, according to a Department of Homeland Security official. DHS has been referring to replacement wall as "new," but to date, not a single mile of wall has been built where no barrier previously existed. The official did not provide an answer when asked when the first section of "new" wall would be built...

The policy is a seeming about face for a company that once encouraged employee dissent, and follows sustained internal criticism over Google's handling of sexual harassment claims, alleged workplace retaliation, and discrimination against a pregnant employee.

Google, it seems, is sick of it — and is making clear to anyone whose livelihood depends on its self-declared corporate largesse that those who do not fall in line will face consequences...

Dow futures slumped 200 points early this morning after China denied a call had taken place with Trump's team, which as pointed out earlier, juiced US equity futures 700 Dow points off overnight lows.

The disgraced media mogul already faced five felony charges: two counts of predatory sexual assault, one count of criminal sexual act in the first degree and one count each of first-degree rape and third-degree rape. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges, and his attorneys have said the acts were consensual. While these are two new charges, prosecutors said that if the judge finds them duplicative of the existing predatory sexual assault charges, then they would want to move forward on the new charges. That would effectively swap out the old predatory sexual assault charges for the new ones. New York State Supreme Court Justice James Burke set a schedule for a briefing on whether or not to drop the old charges. Prosecutors said the case does not change with this new indictment.

The yuan declined Monday to 7.1468 to the dollar, its weakest rate since January 2008. Chinese leaders have promised to avoid “competitive devaluation” to hold down export prices in the face of Trump’s tariff hikes.
