Swedish Scientist Proposes Cannibalism to Fight Climate Change…
September 6, 2019
Swedish behavioural scientist Magnus Söderlund has suggested that eating other people after they die could be a means of combatting climate change. The scientist mentioned the possibility of cannibalism during a broadcast on Swedish television channel TV4 this week about a fair in Stockholm regarding “food of the future”. Söderlund is set to hold seminars at the event, entitled “Gastro Summit — about the future of food” where he intends to discuss the possibility of eating people in the name of cutting down greenhouse emissions. According to his research, the main problem with the idea is the widespread taboo of eating human flesh and said that conservative attitudes could make it hard to convince Swedes at large to take up the practice of cannibalism.

The long-awaited plan from the Treasury Department features nearly 50 proposals, including many technical changes to financial regulations, and is aimed at shrinking the government’s role in the housing market. Europe and US are Going to Try and Deflect an Asteroid…
September 6, 2019
The purpose of this two-spacecraft system is to deflect the orbit of one of the bodies that make up the binary asteroid Didymos, which orbits between Earth and Mars. While one spacecraft will collide with a binary Near-Earth Asteroid (NEA), the other will observe the impact and survey the crash site in order to gather as much data as possible about this method of asteroid defense.

No, but I recently gave serious thought to the idea of launching a small DNS server communications satellite. Not an expert on space law, but seems like such a setup would have absolutely no jurisdiction and be uncensorable.

September 6, 2019
Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani, a mechanic for the airline, was charged with "willfully damaging, destroying, disabling, or wrecking an aircraft,” according to the criminal complaint. The complaint said there were no issues recorded with the aircraft when it arrived in Miami from Orlando on July 17, except a “minor maintenance issue” with a malfunctioning light bulb in the cockpit... Surveillance footage shows Alani tampering with the flight before it was scheduled to takeoff. The complaint says Alani deliberately obstructed the air data module with a piece of Styrofoam-type material because he was “upset at the stalled contract dispute” between union workers and American Airlines and that it had impacted him financially.

boat fire investigation finds Serious safety flaws aboard the vessel where 34 died…
September 6, 2019
A preliminary investigation into the Conception boat fire has suggested serious safety deficiencies aboard the vessel, including the lack of a “roaming night watchman” who is required to be awake and alert passengers in the event of a fire or other dangers, according to several law enforcement sources familiar with the inquiry.
The probe also has raised questions about whether the crew was adequately trained and whether passengers received a complete safety briefing... Authorities have not suggested the fire and fatalities were the result of any criminal wrongdoing, but prosecutors from the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles were at the scene on Thursday preparing to assist investigators and keep tabs on the unfolding inquiry .
Large underwater observatory off the coast of Germany in the Baltic Sea mysteriously disappears…
September 6, 2019
Divers were dispatched to the site, only to find—much to their astonishment—that the entire structure was gone, save for a shredded transmission cable, according to a GEOMAR statement/ The observatory was in a restricted area off the northern coast of Germany. Boats, including fishing vessels, are not allowed into the area, the BBC reported. That somebody, or a group of individuals, removed the observatory remains the most plausible explanation. Other factors, such as a massive storm, heavy currents, or even marine animals, were ruled out as potential causes owing to the weight of the instrument. Who or what removed the science station, and why, is a complete mystery...

But this is exactly how science is done: collecting data, ruling out hypotheses, and forging onward...

September 6, 2019
...the amended defamation lawsuit refers to Brennan’s role in targeting Flynn and Lokhova. It focuses on testimony he provided to Congress in May, 2017 and lays out a litany of articles that Lokhova and her lawyers allege were used to deceive the American public in an effort to target the Trump campaign.
“In his testimony before the Committee, Brennan, of course, was expressly referring to Flynn and Lokhova. The source of Brennan’s “intelligence” was Halper. Brennan passed on Halper’s warning about Flynn and Lokhova to the FBI to be used in the counterintelligence operation against President Trump,” the lawsuit alleges.
