Facebook says politicians don’t have to follow its normal posting guidelines, unless they’re running an ad. The company clarified the rules around politicians’ content today, saying that “it is not our role to intervene when politicians speak.” However, they may still have posts removed if the content could “lead to real world violence and harm.”
The rule echoes a similar policy from Twitter, and it builds on previous Facebook rules about newsworthiness and fact-checking. But especially in the lead-up to the 2020 US presidential elections, Facebook is emphasizing that it wants to stay away from political disputes...

Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.).
Andrew Bakaj, now a managing partner at the Compass Rose Legal Group, interned for Schumer in the spring of 2001 and for Clinton in the fall of the same year, according to Bakaj’s LinkedIn page. The warning is the latest skirmish in an ongoing feud between California and the Trump administration. Last week, the EPA moved to roll back aspects of the Clean Air Act, which California has for years used to set its own emissions standards.

Charlie Baker said the ban will immediately apply to marijuana and nicotine e-cigarettes and extend through Jan. 25, 2020. It must be approved by a health council that is nearly certain to do so. Baker’s office said that, as of Tuesday, 61 cases of suspected vaping-related illnesses in Massachusetts have been reported to the state Department of Public Health.
