October 9, 2019
An article in Chinese state mouthpiece, China Daily, attacks the iPhone maker for reversing an earlier decision not to allow the app to be listed on the iOS App Store — claiming the app is “allowing the rioters in Hong Kong to go on violent acts”... The app’s developer denies the map enables illegal activity, saying its function is “for info” purposes only — to allow residents to move freely around the city by being able to avoid protest flash-points. But the Chinese government is branding it “toxic”... At the time of writing the iOS app remains available on the App Store but the episode highlights the tricky trade-offs Apple is facing by operating in the Chinese market — a choice that risks denting its reputation for highly polished corporate values.

October 9, 2019
According to the IRS, the occurrence of an airdrop or hard fork triggers a tax obligation when someone has "dominion or control" over the new currency. But, as some noted on Twitter, some individuals may have never wanted or asked to receive the cryptocurrency in the first place—but they'll be obligated to pay taxes on them, all the same.
[...]
The new IRS guidance also failed to address whether small cryptocurrency transactions are covered by "de minimis" exemptions. The crypto industry has long asked for such exemptions to spare those who engage in petty transactions, like purchasing a cup of coffee with Bitcoin, from the tax man.Chicken recall hits Giant, Kroger, Aldi, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Bi-Lo, Piggly Wiggly, Kings Supermarket, Jersey Mike’s, and more after products test positive for listeria contamination…

Document reveals Ukraine had already reopened probe of Hunter Biden-linked firm months before Trump phone call…
October 9, 2019
"The U.S. government had open-source intelligence and was aware as early as February of 2019 that the Ukrainian government was planning to reopen the Burisma investigation," he claimed. "This is long before the president ever imagined having a call with President Zelensky," he added, noting Petro Poroshenko was still Ukraine's president at that time...
This is a significant shift in the factual timeline. If Ukraine wanted to reopen the probe in February, then this was way before Biden announced that he was running in the 2020 presidential election, which was on April 25, 2019. This fact alone blows the impeachment inquiry out of the water since the premise of the inquiry was that Trump violated the Constitution in seeking help from a foreign leader to damage a political opponent. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀

Authorities assessed the cocaine’s value at more than $600,000. Officials are working to determine its origin.
