Surgeons from China and Italy claimed that two studies published Wednesday add evidence to their ability to treat "irreversible" spinal-cord injuries and a related controversial aspiration to perform the world’s first human head transplant.
Xiaoping Ren and Sergio Canavero said the new work they published in a scientific journal showed that monkeys and dogs were able to walk again after their spinal cords were "fully transected" during surgery and then put back together again. The neurosurgeons described the results as medically "unprecedented."

A top Silicon Valley venture capitalist was forced out of his own firm this week after he confessed to using William “Rick” Singer — the alleged ringleader of the celebrity college admissions scam — to help get his son into the University of Texas.
Chris Schaepe, co-founder of Lightspeed Venture Partners, was given the boot on Wednesday after he admitted to paying over $600,000 in cash and stock donations for Singer’s services, according to Axios.

Senator Bernie Sanders (79%) and former Vice President Joe Biden (78%) are the most well-known of the candidates. Americans also view Sanders (54%) and Biden (62%) the most favorably out of all of the candidates in the field. Senator Elizabeth Warren rounds out the top three candidates who are most well-known, with 55% reporting they are very or somewhat familiar with her. Forty-four percent of Americans view Warren favorably. Americans report they are not as familiar with many of the newcomers to the race, like Marianne Williamson and Seth Moulton (11% are familiar with either). Williamson (48%) and Moulton (43%) are moderately well-liked by those who are aware of them. Mayor Pete Buttigieg is the least well-known candidate, with just 10% of Americans reporting they are somewhat or very familiar with him, and 44% view him favorably.
