Surgeons from China and Italy claimed that two studies published Wednesday add evidence to their ability to treat "irreversible" spinal-cord injuries and a related controversial aspiration to perform the world’s first human head transplant.
Xiaoping Ren and Sergio Canavero said the new work they published in a scientific journal showed that monkeys and dogs were able to walk again after their spinal cords were "fully transected" during surgery and then put back together again. The neurosurgeons described the results as medically "unprecedented."

The suspect was shot in the head and died at a hospital, Inglewood police Lt. Oscar Mejia told reporters at the scene. He was not immediately identified.
Gunfire erupted around 3:30 p.m. inside the front entrance of the church after police approached the man, who was wearing a hooded sweat shirt and wielding the sword, officials said.
One officer was struck in a hand, and the other was hit in an arm, officials said. They were hospitalized in good condition with non-life-threatening injuries, police Chief Mark Fronterotta said. Both officers are in their late 20s, the chief said.

Victor Gevers, a security researcher at the GDI Foundation, found the exposed database this week, he told TechCrunch, containing more than 5.3 million app users.
It’s believed the database had been exposed since June 2018, a month after the app returned, Gevers said.
Each record included their nicknames, dates of birth, height and weight, ethnicity, and sexual preferences and interests. Records also, where users allowed, included their precise geolocation. The database also contained over 20 million “moments,” or status updates — including private data.

A 42-year-old male has been detained for questioning after a search of the vehicle revealed a fiream and explosive powder, State Police said.
State Police, the FBI and Secret Service are continuing to investigate.
Troopers conducted a traffic stop about 10:30 a.m. for speeding in the eastbound lanes near Bruceton Mills. The traffic stop resulted in an investigation that led to the shutdown of the interstate.
The interstate was shut down near the West Virginia/Maryland state line about four hours. Traffic was diverted off the interstate and drivers were advised to find alternate routes.
The interstate reopened about 2:30 p.m.

Americans also view Sanders (54%) and Biden (62%) the most favorably out of all of the candidates in the field. Senator Elizabeth Warren rounds out the top three candidates who are most well-known, with 55% reporting they are very or somewhat familiar with her. Forty-four percent of Americans view Warren favorably. Americans report they are not as familiar with many of the newcomers to the race, like Marianne Williamson and Seth Moulton (11% are familiar with either). Williamson (48%) and Moulton (43%) are moderately well-liked by those who are aware of them. Mayor Pete Buttigieg is the least well-known candidate, with just 10% of Americans reporting they are somewhat or very familiar with him, and 44% view him favorably.

Judicial Watch announced today it has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) seeking records of communications between former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan and CNN around the time the Clinton-Democrat National Committee Trump dossier was being pitched to key media outlets.
A House report detailed that Clapper leaked information regarding the dossier to CNN in January 2017. The former ODNI chief signed on as an analyst for CNN in August 2017.
Judicial Watch is also seeking records of communications between Clapper and Obama CIA Director John Brennan regarding the dossier , which was authored by former British spy and FBI payee Christopher Steele.
