On May 23, agents observed two vehicles driving in tandem on a remote road near Brackettville. Agents initiated a traffic stop on the first vehicle, a 2019 Dodge Ram truck. After an immigration inspection, agents determined the driver, a 55-year-old female, was attempting to smuggle six illegal aliens. Additional agents immediately followed and performed a traffic stop on the second vehicle, a 2014 Mini Cooper. Agents determined the driver, a 58-year-old female, was attempting to smuggle three illegal aliens. The nine individuals being smuggled consisted of seven single adult males and two adult females, all from Mexico.

Mexican military helicopter engaged in firefighting operations crashed in central Mexico on Friday, killing five members of the Navy crew and an inspector with the national forestry commission, the Navy said on Saturday.

The MI-17 helicopter came down about 55 miles (89 km) north of the town of Jalpan de Sierra in the central state of Queretaro, where it had been working to help extinguish a forest fire, the Navy said.
