NASA’s Kepler just spotted 18 new Earth-sized planets, but only one is worth dreaming about…
May 24, 2019
A whopping 18 new planets are one heck of a discovery, but almost none of them would likely be habitable by life as we understand it. In fact, a full 17 of them are likely far too hot for liquid water to exist on their surfaces. That’s a huge bummer for those of us who dream of the discovery of a true “alien” world complete with its own unique forms of life.
The single outlier, a planet called EPIC 201238110.02, is quite a bit larger than Earth but still within the realm of what astronomers consider “Earth-like.” It’s at the right distance from its host star that it could likely support liquid water on its surface.

Smalley is accused of tampering with up to 38 reports of critical parts used in SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rocket line... The investigation also found that up to 76 PMI pieces had either been rejected during inspection or never inspected at all; they were sent to SpaceX anyway.

May 23, 2019
The charges likely will revive the debate over Assange’s claim to be a publisher like any other, and broader issues of how far the press can go in publishing government secrets... The indictment says Assange released a list of his organization's "Most Wanted Leaks" to encourage people to provide military and intelligence documents. The indictment said Manning appears to have responded to Assange's public solicitation, searching the classified Pentagon network for some of the same terms highlighted by WikiLeaks, such as "interrogation videos."
