EPA allows continued use of pesticide allegedly linked to brain damage….
July 18, 2019
Chlorpyrifos, known on the market as Lorsban, is used on a wide variety of crops, including corn and cranberries, and farmers often call it a last line of defense against certain insects. A federal appeals court in April gave the EPA 90 days to decide how to deal with the pesticide.
Environmental groups have long contended it’s dangerous and have spent years suing the EPA to end its agricultural use. Studies have linked chlorpyrifos to learning and memory issues and prolonged nerve and muscle stimulation. In a statement to The Hill, the EPA said the groups challenging chlorpyrifos’s use did not have enough data to demonstrate the product is not safe. The EPA said it would continue to review the safety of chlorpyrifos through 2022.
Customs agent at Long Beach port admits selling guns illegally…
July 18, 2019
Wei Xu, 56, of Santa Fe Springs, was arrested Feb. 5 after an investigation involving undercover officers to whom Xu sold three guns out of the trunk of his car, including an “off-roster” pistol, according to the U.S. attorney’s office. He has been on unpaid administrative leave since his arrest and will be fired, according to Ciaran McEvoy, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office.
In court Wednesday, Xu pleaded guilty to illegally selling guns on the internet, some of which he obtained by using his power as a law enforcement official, and to creating a fake company to avoid paying taxes, prosecutors said. He also pleaded guilty to illegally possessing unregistered firearms and making false statements to a federal agency about his involvement with a Chinese company to get a secret-level security clearance.
Chinese / Guns / Long Beach Port? Sounds familiar doesn't it? Could this be related to the gun raid that happened back in May that was connected to the Gettys? Maybe even the forced sale of the Chinese owned port of long beach terminal? Did Wei Xu squeal when he was arrested back in February? Sounds like fun political theater, but in reality, you know if you've been following Centipede Nation for awhile, that Iran and the US are going to come to the table and negotiate on the Iran deal. It's been in the making for a couple of weeks now. Here's the latest:
Iran makes 'substantial' nuclear offer in return for US lifting sanctions. Plan would allow enhanced, permanent nuclear inspections. Foreign minister: ‘It’s not about photo ops. We want substance’...

Pentagon Fears Turkey To Retaliate Against US Troops In Syria Over New Sanctions…
July 18, 2019
Turkey's foreign ministry called on the US to rectify its "mistake". This unilateral step is incompatible with the spirit of alliance and does not rely on any legitimate justification,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a strong-worded statement immediately following the White House press release. “We call on the United States to come back from this mistake that will cause irreparable wounds in our strategic relations,” it said...
Over the past week Turkey appears to have been amassing its forces near the border for an upcoming assault on US-allied Kurdish forces in Syria's northeast. American defense officials fear Turkey's military could be tempted toward retaliation against US forces currently assisting Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) over new US sanctions related Turkey's S-400 deal with Russia...
Wikipedia Editors Protect Antifa by Censoring Andy Ngo Assault, ICE Attack
July 18, 2019
Following the Antifa assault on Quillette journalist Andy Ngo in Portland and the terrorist attack on a Tacoma ICE facility, Wikipedia editors added these incidents to the Wikipedia page on Antifa, but left-wing editors removed them in just the latest case of Wikipedia editors protecting Antifa. Several editors, including an open Antifa supporter, subsequently made mocking comments about Ngo and one praised the attack on ICE... Wikipedia editors have also sought to remove mention of the FBI categorizing Antifa as engaged in terrorist activity. Some administrators, who hold more power on the site that editors, have intervened in the dispute to sanction Antifa critics.

Libyan Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj, head of the U.N.-backed Government of National Accord (GNA): Siege of Tripoli Could Drive 800,000 More Migrants into Europe
July 18, 2019
Sarraj issued this warning – which could be taken as a threat to prod Europe into taking action against Haftar – during an interview with Sky News. It was the first interview Sarraj has given since Haftar and his Libyan National Army (LNA) began their push toward Tripoli... “What’s going to happen with this security breakdown is that 800,000 illegal migrants on Libyan ground will have to leave Libya and will cross the sea towards Europe. Amongst these 800,000 there are terrorists and criminals. This will be disastrous,” he said.
Asked what he wanted the Europeans to do, Sarraj made it clear that talking would not be enough to dissuade Haftar, but refused to explicitly call for immediate military intervention. His strategy is to repeatedly stress the perils of the situation, emphasizing the humanitarian nightmare that will unfold if fighting continues, and wait for the Europeans and/or Americans to volunteer themselves for duty against Haftar’s army.

Tru Kids Brands, the parent company of Toys R Us, hopes the Houston and Paramus locations are just the start, CNBC reported. The company said it plans to open 10 stores in the U.S. in 2020, with the possibility of 10,000-square-foot flagship landing in New York or California.

Thirty-six others were injured, some of them critically, in a blaze that sent people scrambling up the stairs toward the roof in a desperate — and futile — attempt to escape what proved to be Japan’s deadliest fire in nearly two decades. Others emerged bleeding, blackened and barefoot.

DNC tells 2020 presidential candidates to stop using the app...
July 18, 2019
The eerie FaceApp photo filter, which uses AI to digitally age your face, has gone viral, with millions on social media sharing their sagging simulacrum, including celebs such as Drake, the Jonas Brothers and Kevin Hart. However, experts warn that the free “old age filter,” created in 2017 by developers at Wireless Lab in St. Petersburg, Russia, poses security concerns that may give them access to your personal information and identity.
The Russian app is one of the most downloaded across the globe, with fans on social media using the hashtag #faceappchallenge to share their results. The tool augments your face to look double or triple your current age — with wrinkles, sagging and yellowed teeth — and also allows you to look younger, swap genders and try out a beard. But be warned: FaceApp, which you grant permission to access your photo gallery, also includes in their Terms and Conditions that they have the right to modify, reproduce and publish any of the images you process through its AI.

‘Progressive’ Dems Threaten To Kill Minimum Wage Bill To Spite Moderates…
July 18, 2019
Progressive lawmakers warned Wednesday that they're ready to sink a Democratic bill to increase the minimum wage if the measure is amended ahead of the vote.
Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) and Mark Pocan (D-Wis.), who co-chair the Congressional Progressive Caucus, said members of the group are poised to vote en masse against legislation to hike the wage floor to $15 per hour if a procedural motion offered by Republicans is adopted beforehand.
The message is a clear warning to moderate Democrats, some of whom have joined Republicans this year in supporting last-minute procedural gambits — known as motions to recommit — which grant the minority party a last-ditch opportunity to alter legislation before a final vote...
